Cinnamon Tree Restaurant – CheadleI have visited the ancora on several occasions and have never been disappointed, from family meals to just the 2 of us! The steak was cooked to perfection and the ribs are to die for, if you want a local restaurant with a lively atmosphere and fantastic food look no further than the ancora!
Ancora – OldhamSat 31st January. Restaurant freezing cold. Service abysmal, Starters passable, main course abysmal. Veg was inedible. Half of restaurant closed off, not many customers in, looked as though there was no chef on duty and the few staff (we only saw 4) were trying unsuccessfully to cope
Wiggin Tree – WiganWe have been regular customers to the Lime Tree for the past 20 years. However we were very disappointed with the service we received during our meal on Sunday night. It was - The initial greeting at the door was cold and uninterested and we were shown to a table just behind a large party of 20 - even though there were tables free (however - these were for four) - Our side order of vegetables didn't arrive and my husband had to go in search of the staff since no one passed through the conservatory area of the restaurant for ages. The attitude of the staff was that we forgot to order it rather than they had forgotten to bring it.... - The way the food was delivered to our table was definitely "service with a snarl" - We had to go in search of staff again (they are all chatting in the bar area) in order to pay the bill. - We weren't the only table stuggling to get served. While we were ordering someone from another table came up to ask the waitress for some more wine. - The food was generally good. My lamb was fantastic but my husband's steak was only just about edible... It was such a shame because we have had so many pleasant evenings at the Lime Tree in the past. However, it seems during the credit crunch they are not interested in keeping their customers happy. We won't be going back again for a long time. Next time we go out for an £80 meal we will choose somewhere where they value their regular customers
Lime Tree – DidsburyFirst time we had been there (4 of us), been driving past for years and years and it just never stood out as a place of invitation. However it recently came recommended and with the recent demise of Old Huckies in Heywood we thought we would give it a try. Charming old pub with a happy, chatty atmosphere as warm as toast. The food was excellent, the wine choice of a good standard, efficient service, pleasant staff and interesting customers (there was a 21st party taking place later in the evening lol). Portions were not for the dainty so allow time and overall the value, standard and quality of food was amazing. What a find. Not quite sure whether it’s a pub or a restaurant but who cares when the menu and food is this good. There was even a disco for when we had finished our meal. This establishment would put many a 5 star restaurant to shame. Compliments to the chef (s) and the front of house staff. Now for the down side. My only criticism were the toilets, although spotlessly clean, had no soap, toilet paper or heating and could of done with modernisation. I am sure after reading this review all will be rectified. All in all don’t let this establishment pass you by unnoticed, I guarantee you wont be disappointed in these economically challenging times. Comes with a huge recommendation. J&S
Three Arrows Inn – MiddletonThe food at this restaurant is fantastic! I tried it recently after it opened and have been back several time since, always delighted, never disappointed. If you like quality Indian food then you have to try!
Massala Lounge – SaleStylish minimalist interior set inside a traditional stone gate house cottage in the centre of town. The service is very attentive from this family run restaurant. A wide selection of hot and delicately spiced dishes from the south of India, a refreshing change from the typical curry house fayre, all freshly prepared on site. Once booked, the table is yours for the duration of the evening providing a relaxed experience. My only criticism would be that the lighting could be more subdued. Very enjoyable as long as you like a certain amount of heat in your food.
Sanmini’s – Ramsbottommy boyfriend and i dined at sul lago and found it exceptional, we are lucky to live right around the corner from it!!! i always enjoy the champagne cocktails too!!!!!!
Sul Lago – OldhamEight members of Trafford Curry Club visited this restaurant at 8pm on Wednesday 27th January 2009. The place is quite small with not a great deal of covers but it was very busy and had a nice cosy welcoming atmosphere. The dated wallpaper also adds to the experience. For starters we had poppadums followed by Fish Tikka, Lamb Chops and Sheekh Kebabs. All delicious ( especially the Fish Tikka ). For mains we chose a variety of the Nepalese dishes including the Chilli Chicken ( very hot ), Bhotowan, Chandane dry fry and Chicken Khorsani ( also very hot ) and traditional Indian dishes of Tikka Massala and Kharai. With copious amounts of draught Cobra and Kingfisher, a jug of delicious Mango Lassi and coffees to round off the evening the bill came to £170. We were very impressed with the waiter service. All the orders were correct and on time even though the place was busy. In fact as we were leaving at 11.30pm diners were still coming in. All in all we would definitely eat here again and would not hesitate recommending it to others. Peter Crouch ( the footballer ) visits here and his photo is on the wall. He has good taste! Our advice would be to leave this little jem just as it is. If it ain't broken don't try to fix it.
Great Kathmandu – Didsburyi been to this restaurant and its the best food and they have a very good price. also i only spent £20.00 and they gave me some stuff free, for example: 2 poppadom onion mango mint + onion bhaji + A BOTTLE OF TIGER BEER! so i am really happy with there service.
Buraq – Wiganexcellent food and service. The decor is modern, fresh with a brilliant atmosphere. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants good food at a good price.
Cinnamon Tree Restaurant – CheadleLarge venue, which was a bit quiet when we went but Im hoping it does well as the food was very tasty and fresh and the service was good too. I like the open kitchen too, all looked very clean. Just a warning this is a no alcohol restaurant, not a problem for us but one of our guests was mortified : )
Dhanak Deira – BoltonHad the most awesome night here for my 40th birthday. The atmosphere was brilliant and the night couldn't have been better. Good food and great entertainment. All the group had a fab night out and I would definitely recommend this venue.
Bouzouki By Night – Manchester City CentreI have eaten here twice in the last few weeks and had a take away, food is excellent, so nice to have good food at a restaurant not in the city center!!
Jitrada Thai Restaurant – SaleHaving read excellent reviews and heard good things from friends regarding Croma I was thoroughly disappointed. The food was cold and staff rude and I don't intend to ever revisit. Having been a resident of Manchester for some time I can verify that by choosing Croma you are choosing 'not that cheap and not that cheerful'. With so many other restaurants offering exceptional food and calm ambience around the city you really have no reason to stop off at Croma...plus I've just found out it's 50% off at Living Room in January AND 50% off at Dukes Bar & Grill Jan/Feb, both come with high recommendation!
Croma – Manchester City CentreThis is a fantastic Italian restaurant which has such a well designed interior with fantastic wallpaper scenes that you feel like you are in Italy. The cuisine is very authentic and the staff are lovely. The have a fine selection of wine and some evening there is a pianist.
Pagliacci – HydeI went to this restaurant last night with my husband and 2 friends. The Wharf Restaurant is inside the Castelfield Hotel. When we went in the reception of the hotel and through to the restaurant and thought it was closed. We had booked the table for 9pm and there were only 2 tables occupied. We were led to believe that this restaurant had a varied menu but we were only offered a sheet of A4 paper which had 4 choices for each course. My husband had the crabcakes and the other 3 of us had leek soup which was nice but was cold. We all chose a different main course and the salmon was the only one of the gammon, steak and chicken that wasn't overcooked and dry. It took 25 minutes to receive our drinks and when we asked to see the menu to order desserts we were told the kitchen closed at 10pm so we couldn't order any. We were also asked to pay cash rather than card. The decor was OK but the room was cold and small. We won't be going back there again and won't be recommending it to others.
Castlefield Hotel – Manchester City CentreWe may have chosen wrongly as we selected the £18 per head set menu and it was the worst food that my wife and I have ever tasted. That said people around us seemed to be happy with their's. If I went again, and I would not, I would sample the more expensive set menu to make sure that we were not missing out on some fantastic food. The starters were the sort of thing you might get in an Aldi discount Chinese starters pack, the mains were under-cooked chicken and pork in unappetising sauces. The rice was very good. The wine was surprisingly drinkable and reasonably priced, particularly once the chill had left the bottle (it was red). Menu states that tap water is not served on Crazy Wendy nights, is this legal? Crazy Wendy created a good atmosphere where everyone who had had a few drinks could listen to very poor singing and dance on chairs. Great if you like that kind of thing. Overall I would go if you are a fan of poor all you can eat food and daytime tv or 18-30 holidays.
