Charnley Arms – WiganAs an aficionado of their establishment in Bollington I'd been meaning to try Stock for some time. I'm glad to say it didn't disappoint. The starter had an intense flavour & the main course of venison & mash was delicious. The wine was extensive and the Sardinian Red was excellent. As with Bollington there's a vast choice of grappa. How about one with truffles in though?!
Stock Restaurant – Manchester City CentreAshfield house restaurant well worth a visit an elegant English country house which stands in its own landscaped grounds. As a wedding venue it caters for 120 to 200 guests, The restaurant has a very good reputation for fine food and wine. The 15 en-suite bedroom hotel also benefits from breath taking views of the Douglas valley.
Ashfield House Hotel and Restaurant – WiganMe and my friend go regularly and we always have a nice time and food is excellent.
Pizza Express – Manchester City CentreIt was quite awkward getting to the food and I felt quite rushed (bill was given before it was requested), but this is understandable for a Saturday evening really. The food was nice, a good selection with some interesting extras such as the cone shaped bundle of sushi wrapped in seaweed. Most impressive were the cocktails at a bargain £2.50! I had the 'wonderful island,' which I can't find a recipe for but it was absolutely delicious!
Buffet City – Manchester City CentreI can thoroughly recommend a visit to this hidden gem of a restaurant! An extremely welcoming venue, run by the friendliest people you could hope for. We had the Meze Greek Banquet and it was very, very special and worth every penny. Particularly enjoyed the Imam Bayildi with Baby Aubergines - the icing on the cake! Oh, and if you're the sort of person that worries about opting for the house wine (like me), there's no need to here.
Sokrates Taverna – HorwichWe ate at No 4 Dine & Wine a few weeks ago, had a great meal with great service, nice quiet location, good for drinks before or after in Didsbury. Over time I hope they ditch the floor tiles and kitchen tables but to be honest we went for the food not the decor, looking forward to going back.
No. 4 Dine and Wine – DidsburyPeople who read guide books and want a Chinese in Manchester go to the Yang Sing, where they are treated like cattle, squashed into a tiny space, get average food, dreadful service and eye-watering prices. People who live in Manchester and want a really special Chinese meal go to the Pacific, which is Manchester's finest, bar none. The food is superb and a million miles away form the identikit Chinatown menu. The staff are polite, helpful and attentive. The room is stylish and welcoming. And the prices, while higher than you would pay in one of the many alternatives nearby, are not at all unreasonable given the quality of the offering. I simply cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.
Pacific – Manchester City CentreWe are from Birmingham but on a recent weekend stay in Manchester my boyfriend and I visited this restaurant on a Saturday night. We had not booked a table but were seated straight away and felt that the food was delicious and the service great. All the tables had candles which we felt was a nice touch. We will definitely visit again if we are in Manchester. Lovely food, cosy romantic atmosphere and very friendly and attentive staff. I would definitely recommend to others.
Bella Italia – Manchester City CentreFantastic restaurant. Only our 2nd visit, but will go back many times again in the future. Great food, and attention to detail is stunning. serving staff are very good, and nothing is too much trouble. Well worth a visit.
Smiths Restaurant – EcclesWell it has taken this long to leave a comment but our wedding meal on 9th September 2003 was fantastic well worth it we just ran out of time for the meal before hurrying to the reception. Thank you once again
Choy Hing Village – SaleFriendly staff & atmos, decent enough food w' some new ideas reasonably priced = pleasant Tex-Mex/Mexican. future plans sound good, especially breakfast; deserves to prosper. ate a few different times, always something else, never been really disappointed. is it only whole beans in the burrito? that's what i had with my veggie one and didn't note refried option, might be me (regular size not very generous but go large option pricey). salsa verde needs work, but the pico de gallo & guacamole both OK. chicken quesadilla alright, chips quite salty. easy to read menu, attractive sounding red meat dishes. (vegetarian & salad-lovin') American companion not overly struck but appreciates the context. are soft tacos in the pipeline? would calling the tortilla chips and salsa what they are be OK, rather than nachos and salsa? we're not that thick surely! still, a labour of love, bravo.
Barburrito – Manchester City CentreEasily our favourite haunt and one we have been visiting for over 15 years. The food doesn't excite really but offers comfort. It is authentic without any pretension. Don't expect plush decor, just enjoy the genuine hospitality and the corny old jokes of the waiters. Don't expect plush decor, just enjoy the genuine hospitality and the corny old jokes of the waiters.
Kosmos Taverna – FallowfieldYou walk into this Indian and it is so different to most Indian restaurants. It is a bit more like a "pub restaurant" but I loved it! You get really big portions and the food is lovely, my only fault would be the service which wasn't that fast, (but the waiting time between courses was probably about right). The bill was a brill price too,£28 roughly for 2of us including drinks and we had the "thali" like set meal which consisted of about 3 generous courses, Nan bread etc. (plus my boyfriend ordered and extra Nan bread!)
Suhana Indian Cuisine – WiganReally great Indian restaurant nice atmosphere, good seating various cubicles in each side of the restaurant. Food was delicious been back twice now would definitely return. Careful not to drive past it doesn't stand out on the main road.
Sagar Indian Cuisine – HorwichThis small cosy authentic Tapas bar is one of my very favourite places to eat and relax. It is becoming so popular that I couldn't get a reservation on my last request for Saturday night. I know not to leave it to the last minute anymore!! It's really nice to go there when Javier esta; porque es muy amable y encantantador..a really nice guy!!
Viva Espana – HorwichWe've been going to M&M's for years and find Mike and Maureen very nice people. The food is always a delight. We have also used them to cater a couple of dinner parties for us and they always give extra help on the instructions for when we get home. Just a shame that we don't live closer.
M and M’s Caribbean Spice – HulmeBooked a table for lunch after reading reviews on Sugarvine. Food was gorgeous, and service was quick. However there was some confusion over the lunchtime offer mentioned on the website - despite the fact I checked when booking, they then informed me such an offer had never been available! Would probably go back on a special occasion as food was quite pricey, but nice. Chips were amazing!
