Cinnamon Indian Cuisine – WiganIn one word? Fantastic! I must have been to Jitrada more times than any other restaurant and not being a creature of habit and loving to try new places that says a lot about this restaurant? excellent food, service and consistency. The menu is extensive with over 130 dishes (excluding desserts) and having been privileged enough to have sampled a large portion of them I can say with they don? put a foot wrong. This has got to be the best Thai and one of the best restaurants in the North West. Brilliant.
Jitrada Thai Restaurant – SaleVisited the rajjas just recently, and sorry to say the standard has slipped. although still nicely presented the food is not what it used to be .signature dishes seem to have disappeared, certainly the lovely spiced poppadom starters had vanished. still good but definitely not the best. sorry.
Rajdoot Tandoori – Manchester City CentreWe go to eat there quite often on a Saturday afternoon and find its very nice .
Buffet City – Manchester City CentreVery good food and atmosphere. Far better than the false food and feel of La Tasca. and the waitresses were very nice to. What? They were!
El Rincon de Rafa – Manchester City CentreExcellent dining experience. Fabulous taste
Lagan – BoltonIf you enjoy unpretentious food, superbly cooked and beautifully presented then you will do no better than Isinglass. A light & imaginative hand in the kitchen ensures that each dish shines. This is real food, local in its origin. You can check out the supplies towards the back of the menu!
Isinglass – UrmstonThis was so busy this afternoon when a girlfriend and I dined. We waited for about 3mins to be seated, which was fine as they had a huge queue, which wasn? surprising as its fantastic place to do lunch. The staff are friendly and ive been a few times now, always great friendly service with an easy to understand menu. My friend had the Brasserie burger, which was huge and came with the most chunkiest chips ive ever seen if you go you must try one! Their wine list is super the cape grace Sav Blanc washes that lunch down perfectly! Go treat yourself to a space where you can relax while shopping at the Trafford centre!
John Lewis Cafe – Trafford CentreOn entering The English Lounge, you'd be forgiven for thinking you had mistakenly walked into a typical English Pub. The crowd that greeted us seemed to be more interested in relaxing with a drink at the ground floor bar than the traditional English Food we'd come in search of. However, we were led upstairs to the dining area, which is dominated at one end by shelves of Old Books, and decorated elsewhere with Miro and Picasso prints. The buzzy and informal atmosphere makes this restaurant a popular choice for groups as well as couples. I did like the Bar, which was beautifully organized, and well stocked! The food is as British as you'll get, with no concessions to modernity or multiculturality. Expect to see classics such as traditional soups, and roasted meat joints, with all the trimmings. I chose Steak in a lovely peppercorn sauce, whilst my brother opted for one of the menu's more popular choices (as lead to believe by the lovely waiter!) Chicken and Pasta. The waiter taking our order said "The better choice, sir", making my brother beam, and me glower. I dread to think what he would have said if I'd asked for a vegetarian meal. Much as I hate to admit it, the waiter was right. While the Steak was beautifully presented, it was slightly swamped by the excessively rich sauce and completely over-powered by the strong peppercorn topping, the thin slices of chicken in the Pasta and Chicken, where flavoursome and melt-in-the-mouth. Accessorised with crispy fresh salad, it was textbook perfect. With water and wine (from £12/bottle for house white and red to just under £12.50, expect to pay around £15-18 per person for three courses, drinks and service. I believe was a bargain, particularly as I'm not one for the "Authentic Best of British" experience.
English Lounge – Northern QuarterThe Brasserie at John Lewis is fantastic. I eat here with my friend for valentines evening and was treated to an excellent 3 course meal. The service was outstanding down to earth and friendly. The champagne ?aitrose own?went great with the salmon main course! Was great value for money will be going back! ps if you can get a window table!
John Lewis Cafe – Trafford CentreI liked the food at Grinch although would not say it's the best I've ever had - I found the music too loud and when we asked to move from next to the stage received constant jibes from the musician playing. Not a great experience but would go to this restaurant again but not at weekend.
Mud Crab at Grinch – Manchester City CentreWe stopped for Sunday lunch here by chance and were absolutely delighted that we had. The waiter asked if we wanted the "special" all-inclusive lunch and we agreed without seeing the menu. He then proceeded to bring out poppadoms and a plate of mixed starters each. This was followed by 3 different main dishes (not a great deal of meat in each but enough), a bowl of sauce, rice and naan bread - far too much for us to finish. I was tempted by the banana fritters and ice cream (only because I felt I should as it was "all-inclusive") Ready to pop, we asked for the bill. The waiter brought over 2 small glasses of baileys, the bill and 2 after eight mints. We were astounded to find that our meal had cost £6.95 each!!!!!!!! A definite must to go again.
Red Fort – CheadleI would highly recommend Sweet Mandarin. It was the best Chinese I have had in a long time and my favourite was the Lilly Kwok's Chicken Curry. I thought it was great that Lilly turns out to be the Three Sisters' grandmother. My husband had the sizzling scallops - plenty, fat, delicious and a real treat. I had several of the Lotus cocktail - lychee vodka which was amazing. See you next time. Liz and Jeff
Sweet Mandarin – Northern QuarterExcellent service and very friendly. The food is fantastic. I would go every night of the week if I could. My son is eight he loves it. He knows all the staff by name. I would recommend it to everyone.
Millon Restaurant – OldhamI can't stress enough just how wonderful the menu is here. It is a bit more expensive than Rusholme, and the poppadoms aren't the best, but if ever I'm eating out, I head here. The menu is varied, unusual and everything I've ever had has been fabulous. I've been going regularly for nearly 4 years, and it's one of the best reasons to live in South Manchester.
Great Kathmandu – DidsburyThis deli restaurant was certainly a genuine Mediterranean touch the centre of Manchester was missing. The quality and the authenticity of the products is extraordinary! If you haven't yet been there...don't waste any more time!
Katsouris – Manchester City CentreBetter food than El Rincon -just. Ambience a bit too modern not as good an atmosphere as El Rincon. Better suited to small groups. Tapas menu restricted but very good quality. Wine on pricey side.
