Sokrates Taverna – SaleI absolutely loved this place. it is one of the best restaurants in town. The food can be quite pricey but what you get is superb. There is plenty to choose from.
Old Orleans – The PrintworksThe new (Italian) kid in town, and very good food too. Amused by the sign in the window before they opened, stating that they were going to be a "proper Italian restaurant". This attitude seems to have carried over to the staff at service as well, slightly arrogant, but in an amusing rather than offensive way! The food is authentic, very good Tuna Carpaccio to start and a three pasta / sauce dish for two as main. Wine list rapidly escalates in price, can get the same bottles (like cannanou) five or six pounds cheaper elsewhere in town, house red not too bad. Very busy all the time, check it out, but book for the weekends.
San Carlo – Manchester City CentreAbsolutely fantastic! Visited twice now and excellent food and service both times. Would recommend for small or larger groups.
Laughing Buddha – DidsburyA lovely local restaurant. Friendly staff, great menu.
Lagan – BoltonWhat can I say? Superb value for money set menus, polite, prompt service and fresh food cooked right in front of your eyes. Great Bulgogi and delicious Kimchi served with a bewildering array of side dishes. The numerous Korean and Japanese cliental will vouch for its authenticity
Koreana – Manchester City CentreNot a huge amount of choice for starters, also found starters very pricey. Menu a little confusing so we opted for the set meal. However when the food come it was absolutely delicious and the service was attentive but not over bearing like most Chinese. Very enjoyable meal. Very nice restaurant.
Little Yang Sing – Manchester City CentreAlthough the comments about service are true the choice is unbelievable
Didsbury, The – DidsburyIt was a lovely meal last night; the atmosphere is really good as there are no corners. You take your own drinks which is quite good, so your meal ends up cheaper.
Westwood East Bangladeshi Cuisine – OldhamIt? really nice food and the service is good. If you go in the evening its only £3.90 for a pasta dish or a pizza which also comes with a salad! You can't beat it!
Mario’s Pizzeria Ristorante – RochdaleThe best tapas bar in Manchester, great atmosphere and excellent value for money!
El Rincon de Rafa – Manchester City CentreThe Quality of food was good, but the quantity was very very poor. We were a party of 6 and we all agreed that this place is WELL OVER PRICED.
Gusto – DidsburyUpon entry, we felt comfortable, relaxed, and in capable hands, following a very friendly greeting from the lady waiting by the door. The small waiting area was very nice, overlooking an adjoining bar, where our food orders were taking during a celebratory drink. One curious and strange addition to the decor was a set of life sized child dolls, all facing the wall, resembling a scene from Blair Witch. Very strange indeed, but at least it offered something to talk about. Service was very good, albeit by a couple very young and inexperienced staff. Waiters were pleased to take a photo of all the family, and were very friendly and unpretentious. I have no real complaints, as more formal, 'Michelin Star' style service quite probably would have felt out of place here. The menu was simple, safe, yet comprehensive and fulfilling. The food was very good indeed, for all of the 4 people in our party. Ours choice of starters ranged from mussels, goats cheese, and soup. The mains were equally as fulfilling. Fillet steaks and duck, all perfectly cooked and nicely presented. The choice of side orders was however a little strange we though. 4 options, ranging from basic chips to ratatouille. Some of which didn? fit any of the dishes that we ordered, but perhaps are offered to every diner irrespective of what they are eating. Saying that, there's nothing forcing you to choose anything that doesn? take your fancy. The wine list was extremely reasonably priced, and of a good standard, catering for all but the most discerning of drinkers. This was our first time at the Red Hall, and definitely won? be our last. A superb every day restaurant in cozy surroundings, serving good, well served food at very reasonable prices.
Red Hall Hotel and Restaurant – BuryThe best Punjabi food I know and at such great value for money. Don't forget to bring along your own booze.
Cafe Lahore – OldhamTry the duck Pizza!
Pizza Express – DidsburyWe visited Jem and I the first week it opened a couple of years ago, and were hugely impressed as both food and service were out of this world. We particularly reminisce about the melt in your mouth lamb (sadly no longer on the menu- and the chocolate pots!). Having raved to all our friends we have returned on numerous occasions, the last being yesterday night for my 30th birthday celebration, only to have our anticipations dashed. I always go out of my way to be a polite and courteous customer but found the staff to be surly and cold beyond belief. I really don't expect to get a dirty look when ordering a £20 bottle of wine and nearly £100 worth of food. We would like to look forward to our next visit, however I doubt this will occur, as it appears Jem and I have been unable to maintain the extremely high standards of service of their debut, gravely disappointing as this restaurant truly stood out against the competition. A great shame as the food continues to be fantastic, come on Jem, you can still rectify this, and when you do, we will be the first to enjoy your company once more.
Jem and I Bar and Grill – DidsburyThe staff seemed to forget that we were there and couldn't raise a smile. Starter was great, main course was bernie inn.
Velvet – Manchester City CentreThis can soon become one of your favourite. City Centre Chinese Restaurants, the food is great, the staff can? do enough for you, very attentive - and the price is amazing. Worth going to for lunch.
