Amazing Food and Attentive Staff Our Favourite Restaurant In Middlesbrough
Vine – MiddlesbroughBest restaurant in Middlesbrough (and not only there, I think!). Despite a minor misunderstanding which was completely understandable given the stressful and busy Jubilee weekend, the service was super kind and the amazing and delicious food was well worth the wait! We would surely dine again at our very first chance!
Vine – MiddlesbroughWhat an absolute delight it is to come to the vine. As soon as we walked in we where approached by a lovely member of staff and asked to see if we would like a drink and if we would like to see the menu. After having a coffee we sat and just enjoyed having a chat with the bartender...we soon decided to have a cocktail (violet gin fizz is a must try) We decided to eat later on and food was delicious as always. I totally recommend a visit if not for food then a coffee or a cocktail is a must try! It's somewhere that's totally relaxing, exceptional service, great music and a must try.
Vine – MiddlesbroughI've previously had very good experiences at Vine, so it was disappointing to receive such poor service on this occasion. I hope that this otherwise very good neighbourhood restaurant will be able to resolve the systemic issues impacting diners. More, or more experienced, front of house staff on the Sunday lunch service seems to be a problem. We booked online, yet the staff did seem a little surprised to see us arrive, and no table was ready. In an otherwise empty dining room we were seated right next to a large and very loud birthday party who were obviously having a great time. I've no issue with that, but it would have been better service to seat our party, which included two young children, further away - as it was we could hardly hear ourselves speak. We were told there was no paper menu or wine list to view. The food menu was on the blackboard on the wall. I asked for a glass of pinot grigio, and was told they had none, and hadn't for several days (there's a Tesco store directly opposite the restaurant), an alternative was suggested. We also ordered jug of tap water for the table. Our food order was taken shortly afterwards, all the Sunday roast options were available (2.30pm) Time passed and we had not received our wine or water for the table. I reminded the staff who soon brought over the water. More time passed, I reminded the team about the wine again. Staff then brought a bottle of wine rather than the single glass I had ordered. Our food arrived and was great, well cooked and presented with the Yorkshire puddings a particular highlight. On their arrival we were asked if we'd like extra gravy, to which we said yes please. By the time we were half way through our meals the extra gravy had not been brought, and we needed to remind staff again. The staff did seem stressed by what ought to have been a simple Sunday lunch service. They were always friendly and polite, but seemed quite overwhelmed. No apology was made for the various issues with our experience. The bill at least did arrive promptly when requested, and was correct (although it already includes a discretionary service charge). Payment was processed quickly and efficiently. Vine has previously been a favourite restaurant, and one I've recommended. On Sunday I felt embarrassed to have recommended Vine to the visiting group of friends I was with. The food is still great, but the service we received will now make me pause before considering returning. Please do better!
Vine – MiddlesbroughBooked on line for a 3pm slot for Sunday lunch arrived to be greeted asking do I have a reservation I said yes to then be told your not on the list am I sure I’ve booked the right place! I told the lady I booked on the app and was told oh they shouldn’t let you do that when we are running out of food - let me check if there’s a table - while waiting was about to order a drink when she came back and told me there was only belly pork left ! It was not what I wanted so decided to quit while we were ahead and go elsewhere - DONT allow booking online if you cannot accommodate it
Vine – MiddlesbroughBest Sunday dinner in Middlesbrough!
Vine – MiddlesbroughExcellent food Excellent staff Excellent service!
Vine – MiddlesbroughThe food here was amazing. The staff are so polite and friendly. Despite being ran off her feet she was very attentive and apologised for any delay. (I think this was due to staff not turning in). The atmosphere is lovely and perfect for a chilled evening. The Irish coffee was also to die for. Been a few times and it’s always a pleasure. Would highly recommend going here.
Vine – MiddlesbroughFood was above average but overall overpriced for the quality and quantity. Oysters were nice and Ribeye steaks were very good and although the lobster was nice, more theatre than anything. My partner was hungry despite starter, sharing board and sides and he ate again when we got home! The venue decor is stunning and a nice vibe/ambience but it was cold inside and freezing in the toilets! The table was sticky, menu was tattered, filthy and sticky.
Vine – MiddlesbroughGreat new find, great ambience and good food and service,
Vine – MiddlesbroughAbsolutely amazing food and service every visit! The sunday dinners are amazing and so is the fillet and lobster share board! Couldn’t pick between the sides so got them all and they were amazing !
Vine – MiddlesbroughOur go to place as we know we always get good quality food and great service
Vine – MiddlesbroughI don't go to Middlesbrough very often for entertainment, but this Friday I needed dinner before going to the theatre, and I needed it to be at least decent, not having 'dined out' for quite some time. What a find! I chose Vine online because it was a ten-minute walk from Middlesbrough Theatre. I couldn't have chosen better. The shabby-chic decor is my kind of thing - I'm shabby rather than chic. The menu is reassuringly limited, unlikely to be too much freezer and microwave intervention, I always think. I went down the fish route. Oysters, a quarter dozen - which means three, and I could have eaten twice as many; then scallops, really well cooked, seared but soft; then the curried Monkfish. This fish is such a strong flavoured one that it can take on the introduction of curry, and it's done with subtleness here. I really enjoyed each of these dishes. No pudding, I had a relaxing stroll to the theatre instead. Early-evening atmosphere was great, lots of families enjoying good food, but I had to leave before the live entertainment got underway. Pity. Really nice people served me some very good food. Thank you. Having been entertained as I was in Middlesbrough, finding a reason to revisit has become simpler: Vine.
Vine – MiddlesbroughExcellent service, lovely food. Cocktails are really good. Would highly recommend.
Vine – MiddlesbroughPerfect food. Really helpful and attentive staff.
Vine – MiddlesbroughGreat service and meal, staff were very attentive as every meal we have had there. Always love going back and can't remember the amount of times my wife and i have been there either for lunch an evening meal or to celebrate something special.
Vine – MiddlesbroughWe love this place, atmosphere is amazing. Love the style of the resturant and the food. The food was amazing last night, one of our favourite restaurants.
Vine – MiddlesbroughFood was amazing and so was the atmosphere, we have been coming here for a few years now and have always loved it here, however I do miss the saxophone player on a Saturday night. The cocktails are amazing also. The only problem was the staff, we had one girl who was serving us when we were asking her for drinks etc she was saying ‘2 minutes I just need to find out your table number and asked another waiteess Infront of us’ and ‘2 minutes I need to get someone else to write that down’ we also asked her for 2 pints of lager her response ‘what is it , 2 minutes I’ll just find out, I said it’s the lager that’s on draft it’s what we have been drinking all night, she said ‘2 minutes’ I just found the staff to be a little bit all over the plane and not professional. I work in a restaurant and would be more discrete about not knowing what I was doing if I was put in that situation. Other than that amazing night and would definitely return. Also the 10% service charge wasn’t mentioned to us , I would recommend telling people before they pay the bill so they have the choice to opt out
