The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeHad a meal last night, have eaten here many times never been disappointed before, however I ordered the halloumi portobello mushroom burger WITH mayonnaise. I felt what was served to me was mayonnaise with mushroom and halloumi - complete overkill with mayonnaise, so much so the mushroom and tomato shot out of the bun as soon as i tried to eat it, this was after i had scraped off as much mayonnaise as i could. The waitress came and asked was everything OK with our meal. I told her while the food was good, I couldn't actually enjoy my burger as it was completely smothered in a thick layer of mayonnaise. She apologised saying she would pass my comments onto the chef, I then heard her tell who I presume was the bar manager, no apology or mention from him my concerns when we paid the bill. If was my birthday I cant say i enjoyed my meal that much,. Also we were put on table 9 which felt like we were sitting in a cupboard at the side of the stairs, so not really feeling any atmosphere. Never had a problem before but last night wasn't really a pleasant meal, which is a shame as previously I've never had a problem here.

The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeWe have been many times and enjoyed it but yesterday it was really disappointing, food was really poor and service too.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeAs a frequent visitor to the area we often eat out and booked the Wheatsheaf for Sunday lunch I have just read previous reviews and saw that someone commented that they had a table in a corner next to the stairs, we had the same table. It was tucked away, dark and cramped also it was very cold! The food is always good, reasonably priced and has decent portions. The service is also good with efficient polite staff. I have marked the atmosphere down purely because of the table
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeLove this place. They catered for an important family event following the loss of my father and, even though he had never been, the ambiance of the place makes him feel close. The building is fabulous, love the history. The food and service are second to none. My husband and I had a great meal - indeed we have never had a poor meal here and the service is top notch. Love it.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeFirst time I’d visited The Wheatsheaf and thoroughly enjoyed the Cobb Salad, I’d chosen. The other three people in the party all enjoyed their food too. Staff very friendly and polite. Good service, didn’t feel rushed allowing us to have a good catch up. Will return !

The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeFabulous as usual. The nut roast was delicious. The service by Lucy and the team brilliant.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeFood excellent. Great pub with plenty of character. Staff very attentive, polite and professional.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeFood was lovely and plenty of it. The service was a tad slow but when staff did come to table they were very pleasant. The atmosphere was good although they would benefit from a mobile card machine, as the bar area was quite full and would have liked abit more room and privacy whilst using my card. It was lovely to sit by the open fire and our three year old grandaughter also loved it too. Always a friendly welcome .
