The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeOur first visit for a very long time. At first, we were put upstairs, which we found a bit soulless but we were then offered a table downstairs. This was far better. The menu was very limited but two of our party had venison and two had fish and chips. We all rated the food excellent. Staff were very courteous and welcoming and though we took our time, nobody made us feel we should leave. Well done, everyone
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeExcellent food at a great price. We are vegetarians and were more than happy with the choices on offer. Delicious falafel burger.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeWe visit the Wheatsheaf on a regular basis. Love the food and friendly staff, especially Andrew who is always ready to have a friendly welcoming chat and advises us on the latest specials. Excellent venue.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeGreat that the pub has reopened with lovely welcoming staff and a good selection of beers and ciders. So far I have only had the pizza from the menu as it is just sooooo good, and really worthy of a good pizzeria rather than pub grub. Well done all!
The Tavern At Hale – MilnthorpeNice to see the tavern reopen the staff are great and very welcoming. Had pizza which was fantastic looking forward to our next visit
The Tavern At Hale – MilnthorpeWe came for dinner on the Taverns first Saturday of opening up after lock down. The place was really busy and loud. We arrived early and shown to our table which was great... the reduced menu was presented to us and all the dishes on there sounded amazing. I chose the spiced carrot fritters followed by the breaded chicken with mac n Cheese. The fritters were the perfect combination of spices and perfect and the chicken was tender served with gorgeous comforting mac and cheese.i could fault them dishes at all. My partner had the black pudding scotch egg followed by the lamb. He assured me, and by the look of his empty plate that his meal was gorgeous. My son had a pizza and ate the lot.. The staff were lovely and obviously very busy but they were attentive without being intrusive which takes skill and all out courses were served in a timely manor. now for the negatives.. the noise.. there was a dog constantly barking throughout our visit. It was situated in the main bar with its owner who gave it the odd yank on the collar every time it barked but that did nothing to stop it. Other dinners also commented. I love dogs and have no objection to them being in a bar but I don’t want to listen to one yapping all through my dinner, they need to be well behaved. The other issue I found was children running in and out to the table near us... it’s not the pubs fault that parents don’t teach their children manners, I understand that. But to have them swing on mine and my sons chair every time they ran screaming past was a bit much. Again, not the pubs fault but it made the whole experience less than enjoyable. I would definitely go back because the food was beautiful and I never got to try the desserts( my partner was ready to kill the dog by this point) but we won’t be going on a Saturday evening.
The Tavern At Hale – MilnthorpeHad a lovely meal on the first night of The Tavern opening. Lovely ambiance and staff Limited menu at the moment but due to expand in September I believe .
The Tavern At Hale – MilnthorpeThe Tavern @ Hale is back, yay! Beautiful & relaxing location, delicious food & a good selection of drinks. The staff are lovely, friendly & very helpful.
The Tavern At Hale – MilnthorpeLovely immaculate place with great food!
The Tavern At Hale – MilnthorpeWe had never been to the Kingfisher before but decided to give if a try having recently moved to the area and were celebrating our son's 30 th birthday. With 2 chefs and a child in the party if was never........p goingto.be easy but it was a fantastic evening. The food was delicious and very reasonable, and the service excellent. Thank you to all. We'll be back
Kingfisher Restaurant – MilnthorpeMy visits to the Ship Inn over the last year have being most pleasant. Always greeted and made to feel welcome in a nice warm stylish environment. I visited the Ship Inn many years ago but would not sit inside as i found it Grotty, Smelly and made to feel unwelcome by people who made them selves clear to be locals. The New make over since then has turned the pub around completely and i, my family and friends think for the better! The layout is very Spacious with large Dining Area and Comfortable lounge and bar area. The Layout isn't the only thing that's changed for the better. Gone are the days of standard Pub Grub the Ship Inn now appears to prepare all foods from scratch from the puddings to the pickle, the pastry on the pie and from the British to the Thai. With Grate British Meals served throughout the day and the exquisite transformation into an elegant Thai Restaurant in the evening. Never have i booked a table anywhere to turn up and find it closed, this does not happen and it certainly hasn't happened here! I find it hard to believe that this has happened to the person in the above comment as they say booked party's OFTEN turn up to find it closed! If that has happened why book again? I wouldn't. With the effort and hard work that's gone and going into Ship Inn by the two lovely lady's Tracy & Alex i cant see that been logical. (They don't seem thick!) The Ship Inn is well worth the Visit and food is recommended
Ship Inn – MilnthorpeSadly, the Ship Inn is closed more often then its open as it is trying to become a restaurant and only seems to open for booked diners during the week. Lounge area is now dedicated to diners so drinkers have to make do with the refurbished bar area. Closed Sunday night at 9pm and all day Monday and Tuesday and usually Wednesday and Thursday as well. WARNING its not unusual for booked parties to turn up and find it closed.
Ship Inn – MilnthorpeRun by the people that own it, the staff are good, the food excellent and reasonably priced and the ambience first class
Crooklands Hotel – MilnthorpeMy husband and I enjoyed a fantastic meal at the Kingfisher recently. We both had starters, the best seafood mornay we had ever tasted for the main course, my husband had a sweet. With two drinks each, the bill came to less than £55. Excellent value for some of the best food we have eaten in a restaurant in a while. The restaurant is modern, the staff were excellent, the setting is superb. We felt as though we had top class food at reasonable prices, not the usual rip off for good food cleverly presented. We will be back soon for another visit even though we live an hour away.
Kingfisher Restaurant – MilnthorpeMy wife and I have eaten here on a number of occasions and never been disappointed. It has varied and reasonably priced menu and the food is always excellent. Efficient and friendly service combined with a unique location make this a very enjoyable experience
Kingfisher Restaurant – MilnthorpeThis has recently changed hands and is trying to be a fish restaurant. We had fish and chips - home made chips at that, which is a rare treat in most pubs these days! The food was very good and very tasty. The only problem was that there wasn't enough of it; to be more precise, we had a small portion of battered fish with ten chips and a spoon of peas at £10.95. All four of us left feeling hungry, so a great disappointment to us all. To further our disappointment the land lady was unsympathetic in response to our feedback to a point where she suggested we leave and don't come back. She probably didn't realise we were locals, but then why should that be any excuse? Customer service is none existent here..expect it to be changing hands again soon!
Ship Inn – MilnthorpeCalled in when passing with friends, excellent choice and quality, will definitely recommend, will be going again
