I am a huge fan of this Moroccan restaurant. The food is superb, and there is the added benefit of being able to take your own alcohol. There are two sittings - 7pm and 9.30pm - be warned, they get busy so do book in advance!

La Fibule – MoseleyAbsolutely love this restaurant! Its my favourite in Moseley, and some of the best Thai food I have ever had...ever! I always get the crispy fish of the day (with tilapia), but everything I have had at Sabai Sabai has been great. Would definitely recommend.
Sabai Sabai – MoseleyMy husband brought me here for my 32nd birthday a few weeks ago. I had never had tapas food and I was worried that the portions would be too small for us. I can honestly say the food was excellent and the meatballs were devine. The atmosphere was excellent and the service was great. We eat out quite a lot but this restaurant is definitely one of my favourites!! x
La Plancha Spanish Tapas and Cocktail Bar – MoseleyOutstanding place, very good food, I love going there the quality of the food is top class, food always fresh, prices are good too
Ponte Di Legno – MoseleyWent to La Plancha for a birthday celebration in July. 10 of us in total, the service was excellent and the food fantastic. Very authentic unlike some chain tapas places. Would definitely recommend!
La Plancha Spanish Tapas and Cocktail Bar – MoseleyLa Plancha has an enviable address on the Alcester Rd in the center of Moseley. however, the service and food within the establishment would suggest the restaurant takes it's location for granted. I have eaten at La Plancha a number of times, and I am always left feeling like I was at a chain establishment (IE La Tasca in Birminghams Mailbox) which in my experience Moseley restaurant goers, and indeed restauranteurs have sought to overcome. In fact one of the most deflating experiences I can recall is when (in fairness within weeks of the place opening) I took my prospective Italian girlfriend to La Plancha and we ordered the rather exiting "gambas" which, alas, turned out to be "gamberoni" as we joked - minute, and clearly frozen prawns instead of the head-on, tail-on , eye-on monsters that were conjoured by the over-liberal use of the word 'gambas'... albeit drenched in garlic and white wine! Small fry... The food seems (to me) as if it has been reheated locally (the "famous" meatballs being of note here...( "famous" for what exactly??)... and although in some places it is very good - the calamari is excellent - the experience feels as if one is in a bar that hasn't quite made up its mind as to its place in the culinary desert of Moseley - and the bread is ludicrously expensive. Bar? food? eh? And this is the problem with UK tapas: Is it a cocktail bar? Is it a serious restaurant? The latter, no, as the tapas is served in a way that one would think one is in the mailbox chain restaurant (as mentioned above), and the former, no: there is not sufficient atmosphere in the place to detain anyone for more than a drink which is why 'tapas' exists in the south of spain (as a way of lining ur stomach whilst u drink - at no cost). And into this the service is rather sub par - and this is not an inditement of the staff involved as they were clearly understaffed, but as I was eating my last meal, two couples walked in, to find there was no-one to greet them, no-one to take their drink order at the bar, and after waiting at least 5 minutes they left. Which seems rather poor business sense to turn away customers without even having seen them or shown them a menu) Two-penneth in the pot, La Plancha has a great opportunity to excell, but it should decide between tapas restaurant 'also rans (see Byzantium in Kings heath - far from perfect but has a better idea of its identity as a small restaurant), or be a bar.... And perhaps push itself as an 'after bar' venue... much as the spanish do. Spanish Tapas in my experience is an accompaniment to a drink, nothing more. Perhaps the niche for La PLancha is to utilise its great location to lure pre/post pub goers into a little sustenance, but not pretend food is the specialty its wayward- its an accompaniment to good company and good 'vibes'. Something that in this instance, really is 'BYO'
La Plancha Spanish Tapas and Cocktail Bar – MoseleyI am writing this review with a massive smile on my face. I booked La Plancha for my daughter's first birthday party and I wanted it to be a very special day. I managed to book a room and had a conversation with the Manager who suggested a buffet. As the day approached I was very nervous as whilst I know what the menu was going to be I still didn't know what to expect and how my guests would react to the food. Well, I needn't have worried the food was a fantastic example of Spanish tapas/food. It was so varied; we had seafood paella, meatballs (highly recommended) cream chicken, garlic mushrooms the list goes on and the food went on as well there was so much my guests could not complain of lack of food. What a great day, my daughter was happy with her portion of food, my family loved the great environment and service and my friends well they all left full and promising to return. If your looking for a special place to have a party/celebration I highly recommend La Plancha as it ticks all the boxes.
La Plancha Spanish Tapas and Cocktail Bar – Moseleymust try the home made fish cakes, they are lovely
Dads Lane Fish and Chip Bar – MoseleyHighly recommended; we have been coming here for 25 years; the food is always fresh so expect a little wait but well worth while. Charming staff friendly and attentive but relaxed atmosphere with some unusual dishes such as Murghi Cholley Sagwalla; Lamb Pinnee; Muchalee Luzzutt-check them out. Probably around £15 per head.
Kababish – MoseleyAn absolutely brilliant place for an evening out. The best food and atmosphere I have experienced outside Spain
La Plancha Spanish Tapas and Cocktail Bar – MoseleySabai Sabai has recently undergone refurbishment extending the restaurant to seat approx 40 covers. This was a great idea, the new look is fantastic and the seating adds to the buzz of the already vibrant place. The menu continues to be great, with pla choo chee as a firm favourite and wonderful curries. The staff are also attentive and friendly. Well worth regular visits.
Sabai Sabai – MoseleyMy boyfriend and I had a fantastic evening yesterday here, the food and the waiting staff were equally delightful. My boyfriend hates the set menu culture of Valentines Day, so getting him out at all was a bit of a nightmare! Thanks to the relaxed atmosphere and varied (and delicious) menu, I now have him fully converted and we both had a fantastic time.
La Plancha Spanish Tapas and Cocktail Bar – MoseleyI would not recommend this restaurant at all, we went for a special occasion, and the experienced we had at the restaurant totally ruined the special occasion. Throughout the meal the service was terrible, very slow, and it wasnt particularly busy, so dont know what is would be like on a busy night!! My partner poured the wine, minutes later it nearly went all over the floor, through no fault of our own, as we had such a wobbly table, to a great extent too!! This should have been checked before allowing customers to come into the restaurant. After waiting a while to be served after I called a waiter over to tell them we were ready to be served. We finally ordered. From time of ordering to actually getting our meal was around an hour later, we were absolutely starving. When the meals came we were extremely disappointed with what we seen and tasted. First of all I have eaten a many Italian Restaurants, and have never ever experienced an Italian Meal to be full of Coriander (the herb which is mainly used in Mexican and Indian Cooking). My meal was full of it and I absolutely hate it, it is way too over powering. No mention on the menu that it would be smothered in coriander, if I had of known, or the waiter would have said, I would have asked for it without. I did call over the waiter and told him I hated coriander and he wasnâ??t willing to do anything about it or my meal, at that point I eat it, it was either me eating, after waiting over an hour, or passing out!! It was the worst meal I have had, The fish was over cooked and the meal was quite tasteless, all I could taste it the horrible coriander. My partner didnt think much to his meal either, and was still hungry after eating it. Throughout the meal the service was terrible, very slow, and it wasnt particularly busy, so dont know what is would be like on a busy night!! Also the desserts were hardly worth having, when we left the restaurant we were still hungry and after forking out a lot of money for a nice meal we dont expect to still be hungry when we leave!! Not value for money at all!! Lastly the restaurant was cold, there was no heating on. The toilets were so cold it was like walking into a freezer. There was no soap or hot water to wash hands with. You should really not experience all these faults when you are paying good money (you are not the cheapest restaurant around, by far!!) to eat in a nice restaurant. I will not be recommending it, after the terrible experience we had!! I have written a letter to this restaurant for their feed back on the terrile experiences we had, and it was not responded too!!
Ponte Di Legno – Moseleyhi One of the Worst Spanish food ever. The food served was very dull and seemed left over from previous nite. The service was poor as the waiter at the bar did not even bother to show me and my girl friend to the table. The place was so small and the decor awful. The girls waiting on us were warm n friendly with their service, the man seemed miserable.I would not recommend this place .Its highly rated for no reason.
La Plancha Spanish Tapas and Cocktail Bar – Moseleyi have been few time to this restaurant, the food is excellent, however, the manager is very rude when it come to taking care of customers, i can't believe he made us wait for 10 mins with no apology and no update, we felt totally forgotten, we asked other waiter twice about our table, they go to check with the manager but he just never got back to us, very disappointing.
Ponte Di Legno – MoseleyThis is the best chip shop in Birmingham if you ask my opinion! The fish is gorgeous, with crispy golden batter, the chips made from bits of Heaven itself! This is well worth a visit, you won't be disappointed
Dads Lane Fish and Chip Bar – MoseleyWay back in the 1960's Tony, as I knew him by, started this Fish & Chip shop. The food was superb in those days, the fresh roe was to die for. His son meets all his fathers expectations and the only regret I have is that I am moving away from the area. However, I will be visiting and I WILL be having another meal from there. Thank you for forty + years of absolutely wonderful food. The battered mushrooms . . . awwww!!! I could go on forever :)
Dads Lane Fish and Chip Bar – Moseleyi love the restaurant and would recommend it to any fan of good food, However, make sure you know how to use sign language, as some members of the staff do not speak English :p
