Great food at very reasonable prices. Super waitress service at the table. Lovely atmosphere in the Oak.
The Royal Oak – NantwichMyself and wife booked in for a Sunday Roast and the place was heaving both inside and out. Our Roast was a bit hit and miss with the Roasted Spuds so hard that even the knife couldn`t open them. But even worst I did expect Mashed Potatoes to come with the main course ie Sunday Roast usually incorporates Mashed. Not so, I had to spend a further £3.50 as it was classed as an "extra". Can`t fault the veg as they were superb. Upon ordering the dessert I had the Cheesecake but they had run out of the Chocolate & Orange but at least they had the Cherry one. Or so I thought !! Sorry but having dined out locally throughout Cheshire I have never had bloody GLACED CHERRIES from a bottle and I was expecting "proper cherry fruit". And finally to add insult they wanted to charge me for an extra pint which I didn`t have nor ordered. So a bit hit and miss but we will return on a midweek mission to sample more food and perhaps we were just unlucky to have visited when they were at a premium with guests. Service by waiters etc was excellent and even the value for money. BUT PLEASE CHEF JUST THROW THE BLOODY GLACED CHEERIES IN THE BIN !!
The Royal Oak – NantwichWe visited the Royal Oak for a meal on Saturday August 27th. The place itself is lovely with a feeling of openness about it. The service was very good but the food was distinctly average. I had the Bangers and Mash which was pleasant enough but my partner had the vegan cottage pie which she described as very dry, tasteless and something she imagined to be akin to "Prison food". In fact she was only able to eat half of it and described it as disgusting. At no point during the consumption of our meal did anyone ask if everything was alright with the meal. There was only one Vegan option on the menu and 2 other vegetarian options which is also a little disappointing As I say, I can't fault the place in terms of ambience and service and maybe we just copped a bad day, but it is fair to say it was very disappointing.
The Royal Oak – NantwichWe had a lovely Sunday dinner here yesterday with 2 toddlers. They were very accommodating and the childrens portions were really good (we should have just got 1 between them). We all enjoyed ourselves and will be back :)
The Royal Oak – NantwichVery disappointed, we pre booked 7 meals for Saturday evening of 20/08/22, one starter Tiger Prawns were cold, one chicken supreme potatoes which should have been mashed were cold and lumpy, the broccoli was cold and not cooked. The second meal was vegetarian pie, the potato mash was lumpy and the pie was cold at the bottom of the dish. Having spoken to the staff stating this was the second time the meals were sub standard and also having a review emailed to me, i phoned and asked if they really wanted me to fill in the questionnaire, the reply was the manager would phone me. As of a week later there has been no response from management, this is why the questionnaire has been filled in. I feel very sorry for the owners who have spent a vast amount of money and time on the Royal Oak to be let down by the quality of food supplied to there customers
The Royal Oak – NantwichSecond Visit since re opening great food, drinks and service both times, excellent value for money, friendly warm and welcoming staff will be back soon
The Royal Oak – NantwichPlace was lovely and the main waitress was excellent. Food was ok but no gravy with the pie and did ask for it. Food a bit dry round the edges and looked like it had been standing out for a bit. Can't describe peas and a bit of broccoli as seasonal veg.
The Royal Oak – NantwichThe location and the building are great, plenty of light clean and tidy. The food was fine but nothing special. The chips were excellent and plenty of them, veg was limited to peas for everyone. There was also evidence that some of the meat was frazzled at the edges. Overall ok but not brilliant
The Royal Oak – NantwichHad a family meal to celebrate mother’s 96th birthday., which was really enjoyable. The staff were very helpful throughout. So thank you very much.
The Royal Oak – NantwichIt was our first time at the Royal Oak. We had Royal Burger and Peri Peri Chicken and beer battered onion rings. Food was nice but unfortunately the service could have been better. If honest i think think they have great training and support. Having worked, owned and trained staff in food industry it could be better. If you are not in a rush, patient and willing to remind staff for taking orders worth a try. Nice surroundings not as big as you expected.
The Royal Oak – NantwichLovely Saturday evening out: the pub has a nice atmosphere, staff are very friendly and helpful but think they need 2 bar staff on when both pub and restaurant are busy. The food came without any delay, clearly freshly cooked and was delicious. Very reasonable prices for good quality food and nice-sized portions. Will definitely be returning.
The Royal Oak – NantwichOur first visit to this pub since refurbishing - looks lovely inside. We booked our table for 3 online with no problems. Our meal was very nice - we had bruschettas and black pudding stack which were lovely. Had steak, ham and egg and the half roast chicken. All were cooked beautifully and looked nicely presented. We asked for the fries instead of chips which was not a problem. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious and we also had knickerbocker ice creams. Thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Can’t comment on ambience as we had an early table so we’re the only ones in there for a while. Our waitress was friendly - didn’t have to wait long for food but wouldn’t expect to at the early sitting. Overall a good experience and we will come back.
The Royal Oak – NantwichFaultless food and service
The Royal Oak – NantwichVery disappointed with quality of meal and Sunday lunch menu was very limited. Understaffed. Building and exterior has been done very nice.
The Royal Oak – NantwichService was a bit slow, but the restaurant itself was nice. Overall food was good, however I’d avoid the cheesecake, not sure how you can get that so wrong and the coffee wasn’t nice. Appeared to be a lot of colleagues working with some friendlier than others, but all appeared very distracted. Would go back again though.
The Royal Oak – NantwichThe food was awful. The veg was raw. I couldn’t get my fork into it. My roast chicken was very bland and cold. With some sort of sauce squirted on the top. The starters were average.
The Royal Oak – NantwichBooked for 7pm on a Tuesday. We only had mains and they took a long time to come out. The staff are great, if a little frazzled! My friend didn’t like her curry so they refunded it even though she had eaten some of it. The lemon cheesecake, is a plain cheesecake with lemon zest on top - which was a little odd. The decor and atmosphere was lovely. I would go back and hope that the meals come out a bit quicker.
