Komal Balti House – Newcastle City CentreI recently had dinner at the Newcastle Malmaison Brasserie, it was fabulous!! The food was divine, as was the service. We rounded the evening off with a couple of cocktails in the bar overlooking the river. Perfect end to a perfect evening!
Chez Mal Brasserie – Newcastle City CentreWe had dinner at Sky Apple and had to go back the next day for lunch just to check we didn't just hit good luck!! It was as it was the night before - fabulous! The best burger (veggie or otherwise) I have ever had! If I lived in Newcastle, I would be there as often as I could!!
Sky Apple – Newcastle City CentreI love Nando's, I always check to see if there is a Nando's near by when I stay away on business. You can't beat the distinctive taste of flame grilled chicken with the extra hot sauce poured all over it. Try it and see for yourself.
Nando’s – Newcastle City CentreSUPERB CANNOT WAIT FOR THEIR DURHAM RESTAURANT TO OPEN IN MAY !!!
El Coto – Newcastle City CentreI would not recommend this restaurant! We visited on a recommendation and we were very very disapointed, a happy anniversary meal it was not. The staff were non-attentive, verging on ignorant. I ordered the Tzatiki and assumed it was served with bread/pitta etc but I was just given a bowl of dip! The waiter did not think to tell me when I ordered and I had to wait 15 minutes for some pitta to dip otherwise I was given a spoon to eat it. We ordered a lamb and a chicken kebab which were disgusting. It tasted like it had been marinated in urine. We left hungry and disatisfied when the manager didn't even address out complaint, he just shrugged his shoulders!!!
A Taste Of Persia – Newcastle City CentreA real gem, serving excellent food and the city's best coffee. Friendly atmosphere, great for lunch or for chilling out after work.
Cafe De Vie – Newcastle City CentreI have been here twice both times in large groups and I have never been disappointed! We ordered from the set menu and asked the chef to mix and match and share it all out to everyone. The food is delicious and Chef's are highly skilled in both culinary skills and entertainment. My only warning is, beware of the egg trick, make sure your hat is secure or else you may end up with an eggy hair do!
Fujiyama – Newcastle City CentreI booked one of the Private Dining rooms at Newcastle Malmaison for my parent's anniversary dinner a couple of months ago, from start to finish it was fab!! i received all the information that i needed and offered help and advice on planning throughout the way by their meetings co-ordinator. she was fab! then on the night everything went to plan! the food was delicious! the service also was great, nothing was too much trouble, even my grumpy dad! i would definitely recommend the private dining rooms for special occasions.
Chez Mal Brasserie – Newcastle City CentreOur group of family and friends dined at the Silk Room for a really special celebration, both the food and the surroundings lived up to expectations. The restaurant is very welcoming with a lovely intimate feeling. The service was both helpful and attentive. The food is beautiful, hearty and was met by approval by all our diners. The price is more than justified for the varied and exciting menu. I would recommend the restaurant very highly, and will be returning soon.
Silk Room Restaurant and Champagne Bar – Newcastle City CentreI have eaten in this restaurant several times since its transformation from Est Est Est and each time has been amazing. Nothing is too much trouble for the waitresses and the menu has something for everyone. The atmosphere is great for a celebration or cosy meal for two and the bartenders can wow you with their choice of cocktails and talent at making them!
Gusto – Newcastle City CentreWe booked the Silk Room for 9.15pm and were not seated until gone 10pm. The 'Hexham' goats cheese bruscetta starter was rather low on any actual cheese (Hexham or otherwise) and was garnished with large lumps of raw onion. The king prawns tasted as if they had been recently defrosted. The long awaited main course arrived at about 11pm and the £16 cauterized 'Wagyu burger' (we had asked for medium) was only topped by the woefully flaccid chunky chips. The complementary apology drink did nothing to take the sting from the £66 bill. We would never eat there again.
Silk Room Restaurant and Champagne Bar – Newcastle City CentreWe stumbled across Saroo one evening after having visited another restaurant just across the road. We decided we would give it a try the next time in the area, as the menu looked very good and the decor looked fresh and appealing. I have to say that Saroo has to be the finest Indian dining experience we have encountered in the North East. The food is of a very high standard, up there and surpassing the finest in the City Centre. The range of dishes ensures that there is something for everyone, and children are also welcome. The Staff are pleasant and unobtrusive, the range of dishes is excellent,so give it a try, you will not be disappointed.
Alsulttan – Newcastle City CentreI went with a big group of friends and everyone enjoyed their night - food was excellent, service was friendly and the price was very reasonable! I've been back since and left with the same satisfaction so will definitely be going back soon!
Mamma Mia – Newcastle City CentreI have been visiting the Koh I Nor for over 30 years and have always found the same high standards for quality and value. I happily recommend this restaurant to others - the early evening menu is fantastic value.
Koh-I-Noor – Newcastle City CentreA refreshing change from, the all you can eat, pile it high frenzied restaurants! The food was tasty, flavoursome, interesting, I had NO complaints, enjoyed every aspect of the meal, unobtrusive service. Fab squid, amazing kebabs....want to go back...now!
Hei Hei – Newcastle City CentreI noticed that none of these reviews are very recent, so thought I should add my own. We went to the happy hour on Thursday 7th Jan, 2008. The waitress who served us barely spoke to use, the tables are very close together which means waiting staff push past you a lot. We ordered a garlic pizza bread with cheese which was very doughy and not really cooked properly and some pate stuffed mushrooms which were rather soggy. My boyfriend had a chicken kiev pizza, which was lovely. But I ordered the canneloni and it was awful. It was not traditional pasta tubes, the mince was undercooked and there was not much of it and the huge amount of spinach had turned the majority of the mince green so it did not look appertising. We also had some onion rings and, as I work in a restaurant, I knew that they were ones done from frozen. One waitress was lovely, the rest were rather rude. We were going to go to Mario's (down the road) and I really wish we had. The owner of Mamma Mia's clearly prides himself on his reviews as he has a sugarvine review stuck in his window. I think he needs to stop paying so much attention to his meetings with Gordon Ramsay and more to the quality of his food!
Mamma Mia – Newcastle City CentreThis was by far the worst dining experience i have ever encountered in my life. The service from the staff was so unprofessional. I traveled up from Norfolk on the Saturday to enjoy a night out with my partner and we were both very upset by what we had both seen. we waited 2 and a half hours for our food to even come out and the waiter that was serving us just did not have a clue as to what he was doing. 3 couples on other tables around us were complaining about the service. at 1 stage as a customer was complaining i watched 1 of the waiters blaitently pick his nose and flick it on the floor. Honestly do not even enter this place it's a total health hazard. and a disaster area.
