I AGREE WITH THE OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS - VERY GOOD AND FRIENDLY PLACE ESPECIALLY FOR THIS CORNER OF NEWCASTLE.
The Scrumpy Willow and Singing Kettle – Newcastle City CentreThe food is excellent the same as the staff especially the general manager gema i think her name ones will be recommending this to all my friends and family
El Coto – Newcastle City Centreme and my friend were in Newcastle for a girls weekend, from Edinburgh. A work colleague recommended that we try Pinochios's for food. It was fantastic, the best meal i have had in a while. The service was very friendly. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very welcoming and relaxed. I would defo recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes a good meal. Next time im in Newcastle i will defo be going back Rhona Robertson, Edinburgh
Pinocchio Ristorante – Newcastle City CentreWent for a birthday treat with family. 6 adults and 2 children. Children didn't want spicy food so we asked if there was anything else. Waiter said they could do fried chicken and chips and we agreed that would be very nice. We didn't ask the price (more fools us) and they didn't say. When we got the bill we found that most of the dishes were between £5-£7 but the children's meals were £9.95 EACH. Their meal consisted of about 5 or 6 pieces of chicken about the size of a 50p piece each, chips, peas and a bit of salad garnish. We all thought this was outrageous and they have lost some regulars through this.
Komal Balti House – Newcastle City Centrei felt the manger and staff very arrogant and generally unpleasant the waiter on the occasion came to the table numerous time within the space of 25 minuets very excessive the food was ok, the risotto was good although it was a little hard, a few other members of my party didn't receive the same "high" standard the restaurant that we had be told to expect the ambience was well dead and the smell of the lace was of cleaning products seemed veery over powering.
Silk Room Restaurant and Champagne Bar – Newcastle City CentreI have been eating here for a number of years and recommend it most highly! Especially if eating before 9.00 p.m. - £7.95 for 4-course meal - excellent. Definitely give it a go. Food is superb.
Raj Tandoori – Newcastle City CentreAwful
La Vita – Newcastle City CentreI love this place, great to calling for bite to eat after work and its always consistently lovely. The salads are always fresh and well dressed but I have a particular taste for the pizza boschetto which I seem to order alot. Staff are always lovely and you never have to wait too long for food. people always recommend places to try but i keep coming back to La Vita as nothing is seems to compare.
La Vita – Newcastle City CentreLast night was the first time at Zizzis. Very loud and crowded.,you cannot eat your meal properly because you are so squashed.Very impersonal staff, you feel like you are on a conveyer belt for service. Pizzas ok, lasagne is the smallest I have ever seen, a small strip in the middle of a oval dish and very thin and well below average with no garlic bread or salad ,just sitting there looking lost.Pasta very bland, and rissotto quite tasteless ie, the one with chicken breast and mosserella is just 2 strips of chicken on top of runny rissotto.Banana and chocolate dessert was a burnt waffle in sauce , could not find the banana, torte lemone was below average bought in.All in all a not very good experience.
Zizzi – Newcastle City CentreIt was okay, the tomato and pesto flat bread to start was lovely, but the rest of the meal was a bit disappointing; bland and long wait for a quiet lunch time.
Strada – Newcastle City CentreWe are not vegetarians but this place does not let anyone down, nice food, served by people who seem to care about what they do! Especially nice for lunch, but a nice change for evenings! Bring your own booze!
Sky Apple – Newcastle City Centrebest indians take away i have ever had the pizza's are really nice and cheap too 10* try it out.
Khyber Tandoori – Newcastle City CentreI LOVE IT !! Its my treat... always a good buzzin atmosphere and the staff are very friendly and food is YUMMIE what more can i say except try it and you will enjoy especially the squid and brocolli and dumpling soup mmmm.....
Chinatown Express – Newcastle City Centrei have lived in Newcastle for three years and am really pleased to have found such a chilled out friendly place to eat and the food is delicious, not two ponsy just right! the whole place has a relaxed anything goes atmosphere which i really like.
The Scrumpy Willow and Singing Kettle – Newcastle City CentreNo fuss, relaxed atmosphere to eat excellent quality food with good range of western-chinese and chinese dishes at very reasonable prices. I'm still working my way through the menu and haven't had a bad experience yet. The staff are very friendly and always willing to explain the less familiar dishes to us.
Chinatown Express – Newcastle City CentreReally good home from home food. Big range from excellent breakfasts to supper ( you can take your own bottle). Very good sandwiches - real bread and no packaging. Food organic and very fresh. Nice people running the place and there's a nice atmosphere to the place.
The Scrumpy Willow and Singing Kettle – Newcastle City CentreMarvellous!
Munchies – Newcastle City CentreI visited Newcastle for a long weekend and ate here three times - it was so good. I am a veggie and there were excellent veggie and vegan choices - the beetroot soup was first rate and the bean chilli delicious and spicy. One of my companions had an omelette which looked very good indeed. Additionally, there was plenty for the meateater - seemingly the sausages are outstanding and the lamb casserole very popular- all the meat is locally sourced and all food is organic.
