Lovely staff and food. Nice atmosphere, Will be back.
The Last Inn – NewportWe have visited The Last Inn previously a number of times but due to relocating out of Shropshire we have not visited for 18 months. We chose to travel back for a family meal due to how good our previous experiences had been. Unfortunately it was not as good as we remembered at all the food quality has significantly reduced my husbands meal was not served complete, my burger was supposed to be served with Monterey cheese, I received two slices of plastic cheese not as expected! My mother in laws veg was unpleasant and she was really disappointed with the “home made” pie that we advised her to have as we had both had it before and it was clearly brought in and not homemade at all! Service was also very poor and extremely slow it took 2.5 hours for us to complete the meal. Guests who came after us were served before we were it was very disorganised. Staff were not around to speak to we were not asked if the food was ok and after being served our mains we asked for more drinks then never saw another staff member. 2 drinks were forgotten because the staff did not know if they had Guiness they went to check and gif not return??. Overall very disappointing compared to our previous visits. We will not be returning and would definitely not recommend.
The Last Inn – NewportWe had a brilliant Sunday Dinner, friendly staff, good service and fantastic food
The Last Inn – NewportLovely food, really enjoyable, good range of vegetarian and vegan options available too.
The Last Inn – NewportWent for Sunday lunch and it was excellent. Must be the best value for money locally as the prices are very reasonable for the quality of food on offer. We have been a few times recently and every time it has been excellent.
The Last Inn – NewportAbsolutely lovely meal, perfect service and great quality. We visited a few months ago before the new management and were a little reluctant to return as our previous visit had been disappointing due to the length of time we had to wait for our food to be served (although it was lovely when it arrived). If anyone has a similar past experience then I recommend you try again as we couldn't fault it this time and will definitely return. *I didn't score atmosphere very highly purely because we were the only diners in the restaurant at the time, this may be as we booked a little early due to having a child with us.
The Last Inn – NewportExcellent meal. Thoroughly recommend the pork belly. Great service as it was quite busy. One mistake on partners pudding but instantly manager took that off the bill. He didn't need to as partner ate what was given him . Only draw back is the menu being black writing on dark background. Quite hard to read.
The Last Inn – NewportA lovely Sunday lunch as always
The Last Inn – NewportSunday Lunch. We've been going to The Last Inn off and on for some time now. The latest experience on Sunday 24/09/23 was, without doubt, the best. They were busy. In the past you could expect to wait quite a long time for service, there were no delays - more staff - much better organisation. Food excellent, generous and at last they produced nice crunchy roast potatoes. Mistake they used to make was to pile meat on top of roasties (making them soggy). Wine by the bottle much more reasonably priced than previously. Somehow, The Last Inn have been able to hold their food prices, yet deliver better service, maintain excellent quality and reduce prices of Wine by the Bottle. Fantastic. New manager made all the difference. Thank you everyone who looked after us
The Last Inn – NewportExcellent food couldn't fault any of it. Staff friendly but require more training, I suspect one was very new, but a minor point that did not affect an enjoyable visit.
The Last Inn – NewportWe visited the evening of Saturday 23rd sept. The waitress and waiter were friendly and helpful The food was very good and very well presented The atmosphere was laid back and enjoyable Would highly recommend
The Last Inn – NewportWe visited on Sunday 17 September having also been a couple of weeks earlier. The food was excellent. We all had Sunday Roasts which were excellent. We had assorted starters which similarly were excellent. The service from all the staff was very friendly and professional. We all felt that the food was tasty, well presented and great value for money. We would definitely return again as we had an enjoyable and relaxed experience in a nice environment with excellent food.
The Last Inn – NewportSunday lunch Veggie option was an excellent standard of food, plenty of fresh vegetables and great customer service too.
The Last Inn – NewportReally not great. Went for Sunday lunch and initially the service etc seemed really good. When the Sunday roasts arrived after a wait we were really disappointed that the roast beef and roast pork were both very over cooked. The Yorkshire pudding tasted like grease and waited 8 mins for apple sauce, horseradish sauce and some Extra gravy. Won’t be rushing back which is a shame
The Last Inn – NewportHad an amazing meal starting with the Meze Board then the Chicken Tikka Wrap with Kamakazi Fries, fantastic staff and lovely setting inside or out.
The Last Inn – NewportLovely staff and great venue for our family of 4. However, the best part was an extraordinary dessert designed for those who cannot decide - for £22.50 we shared a huge platter of all desserts on the menu; what a great idea! To cap it all, there was live music, which just added to our excellent evening.
The Last Inn – NewportWhile the food was excellent and excellent value I would hesitate to go again due to the extremely poor service. My husband and I arrived, had our food and drink order taken promptly, however after waiting nearly an hour and seeing a table who ordered after us receive their food we asked what was happening . We were told there was a 'technical hitch' and food would arrive soon. Two plates of food arrived - the wrong food, it was for another table who had ordered after us. I asked again and was told it was coming. It arrived and my husband plate was wrong, we had asked for no cauliflower cheese so it was taken back to be rectified, however, when I looked at my own the cauliflower was not cauliflower cheese, the menu was wrong. We were then asked if we wanted to see dessert menus which we did, however, sat and waited and waited to have our order taken and couldn't get anyone's attention so finally we got someone and just asked for the bill. We explained how bad everything had been and the server just mumbled something about the internet was not working correctly!!! Everyone else seemed to be getting their orders okay. I thought we might have been offered a cup of coffee as an apology, but nothing, but really I would just have liked the excellent food served in an appropriate time and correctly.
The Last Inn – NewportSunday roasts from £14.
