Duke Of Portland – NorthwichThe Crystal Restaurant is open to non-residents. The menu is modern english/ european with strong french influences. The food was outstanding. The restaurant obviously sources high quality and fresh produce, and then prepares it to the highest standards. We had the Sea Bass, which was just perfect. And the fillet of beef, which has got to be one of the best fillets of beef we have ever tasted. The presentation is a little over-fussy, but not surprising as they are proud of their food. The service was very attentive and the courses perfectly timed. The Victorian Hall is in a beautiful setting, and the decor reeks of genuine old luxury, with wood panelling and paintings on every side. The gardens are beautiful, and if your table is by a window you have a lovely view. -This must be a dream location for wedding receptions! However, with a dress code (-no jeans!) and slightly snooty staff, the atmosphere is a trifle stuffy and formal. We found to difficult to relax, and found ourselves heading off for more soothing surroundings without any spoken debate. But we're glad we tried it, if only for the food which would not be out of place on the table of a gourmet restaurant in Paris.
Nunsmere Hall Hotel – NorthwichA warm and inviting atmosphere, the Kingfisher is a pleasant evening out. The restaurant blends in well with the rest of the floor-plan, The meals are well presented, tasty and filling. The specials menu proves to be popular, but I chose from the standard menu myself, of which has an excellent selection. My meal was presented hot, and with a smile. The waitress attended to my every need without hovering over me. All in all, a very pleasant and comfortable evening out at a reasonable price.
Kingfisher The – NorthwichThis is a Hot Buffet restaurant every day of the week. Me and my grown up children are regular visitors. There is plenty of food, starters, mains and sweets. The menu is varied frequently which is great for regular customers. The price is average but the quality and variety of food is great. Regular customers build up a rapport with the staff and are welcomed by their first names.
Mr Fus Restaurant – NorthwichThe best Hot and Sour Soup in Cheshire. All the other food is great quality too. The restaurant is friendly but often busy because of its popularity. It is a comfortable and scenic restaurant and has a very large fish tank in the centre to amuse the youngsters. It's not the Chinese restaurant I visit most frequently but one we go for a treat.
Emperors Court – NorthwichGreat place to escape to on a Sunday to fill your face. Real ale on tab is pretty impressive and they also do some decent wine. It's modern but still got a pub atmosphere.
Duke Of Portland – NorthwichExpensive drinks, will not allow you to drink tap water.
Mr Fus Restaurant – NorthwichThe best Curry in Cheshire!! Really good choice on the menu and will alter any dishes to your liking. I have had many lovely takeaways and eat in meals, and will continue to so so.
Millennium Balti – NorthwichExcellent food and attentive service. The staff know their way around the menu and cant do enough to make your evening relaxed and enjoyable.
Cheshire Tandoori – NorthwichI recently visited the Duke of Portland for the first time and i would recommend it to anyone looking for decent food in an informal setting. The atmosphere was great with friendly efficient service in spite of being busy. I loved the black pudding, and my wife adored her chicken breast stuffed with cheese and pancetta. Their dessert menu also offers a lot more than most pubs. I didn? mind spending a bit extra than i would've for a lot less quality.
Duke Of Portland – NorthwichI enjoyed a very tasty Sunday lunch here. The decor is fresh and airy - not for you if you like character pubs, but you have to go a long way to get a better bite to eat. My husband is still raving about the chips in beef dripping (the best in Cheshire by all accounts). The chocolate brownie desert was heaven on a plate - served with delicious vanilla ice cream. There's not a huge range of vegetarian food, but at least it's a bit more varied than the usual microwave lasagne, and of a good standard. The use of fresh local produce was evident throughout the menu. We will definitely go back next time we are around Northwich.
Duke Of Portland – NorthwichThe food here is excellent. Staff are polite and quick to attend. It does get a bit loud sometimes, but when it's quiet, that? the best.
Mr Fus Restaurant – NorthwichAt last Cheshire has a proper pub! Real ale combined with some of the best food, i've ever had, & for no more than most of the rubbishy chain pubs around here
Duke Of Portland – NorthwichDefinitely the best Chinese restaurant in Cheshire. We've tried others but always end up back at The Jade Buddha. The owners are lovely people and always treat you as though you are a valued customer even if it is some time since you have visited. Food is excellent and even when they are busy you are not made to feel as though you should rush to leave to make way for the next customer
Jade Buddha Chinese Restaurant – NorthwichI love this restaurant, after living in the Far East for many years, it is nice to eat genuine Chinese food, rather than the anglicised sweet & sour /chow mein approach to Chinese food. It is pricey, but you get what you pay for.
Emperors Court – Northwichwhat a hidden gem! home cooked food at a value for money price, and the presentation is second to none.
The Moorings – NorthwichThe Kingfisher has changed hands, has a new chef, and is consequently more professionally run. As with most pubs if you stick to traditional pub fare you cant go wrong. The fish and chips are hot and tasty, soups are homemade there is an ample selection of other foods on the menu to satisfy most tastes. There is a good selection of beers and wines. Sometimes there are delays in the service when the restaurant gets busy, but it's a lovely pub to sit around in at lunchtime and the staff are now better trained to be very polite and helpful.
Kingfisher The – NorthwichI have only ever eaten here once, and it was sometime ago, but it was extremely good. It reminded me of the old fashioned, top class restaurants in London I used to go like Browns Hotel, where the interior is old fashioned but the food is always welcoming. My wife and I polished off three courses and drinks for our anniversary (including properly cooked meat) and it made a change from all those noisy places around these days - a great place to sit and talk, with good space around the tables. As I say it is some time since I went there - I must go back.
