Very Nice, Good hospitality ;)
Toby Cavery – OldhamLast year we started coming here about once or twice a month, sometimes sitting for an hour or so at the outside tables soaking up the sun, before moving inside for an early evening meal. Although we had heard reports that on occasion certain members of staff could be quite cool and off hand depending on what mood they may be in. We on the other hand had began to feel quite comfortable here. However on our last visit we got to experience first hand such rudeness and the comfortable atmosphere disappeared in an instant! I have no idea as to why we almost had our bread thrown at us or why we treated with such disdain but I do know one thing, we will NOT return. The food (duck) was atrocious, so dry it couldn't be eaten. RUDE, BAD MANNERED and OBNOXIOUS comes to mind.
Ancora – OldhamTook my boyfriend to Sul Lago for a meal on his birthday, lovely restaurant, excellent food & service... Would recommend to anyone & will definitely be dinning there again soon :-)
Sul Lago – OldhamOh dear. We took two friends to this over-rated, over-priced restaurant last night and now feel acutely embarrassed. Service was shocking mainly due to the fact that we came a very poor second to the Eurovision song contest ,from which most of the staff were unable to drag themselves away. I opted for Cozze alla crema to start. The sauce, whilst flavoursome was virtually cold and to my horror one of the mussels came with a most disconcerting clump of black hair attached to it. On drawing the waiters attention to this i was aggressively informed that this was the mussels tail!! In thirty six years as a seafood lover i have never seen anything like this, i was also made to feel like a fool for pointing it out. Sul Lago, if you are reading this the waiter was tall, thin and perhaps of an age where he should be looking for a real job. my advice to you is get his P45 ready. Main course was served whilst two of our party were outside, always nice to return to a plate of cooling food! my partner was most disappointed with the watery and tasteless veal, also parmesan was tipped over her dish without consent while another waiter shouted "no parmesan on the veal", needless to say this mistake was neither aknowledged or rectified. I opted for filetto pavarotti, the steak was small but had been cooked ok, the sauce however was lacking flavour and added nothing to the dish. If you are a vegetarian the Sul Lago is not the place for you. I find it amazing that in this day and age the only vegetarian options are the never innovative mushroom risotto and penne alla bland type generic cop-outs. it took quite some time to catch a waiters eye to ask if non-meat versions of pasta dishes were available, it must have been a particularly nail-biting moment on Eurovision. We decided against desert but did order coffee, whereupon my brandy order was forgotten, and the blame was passed around. Waiters stared at us in an attempt to make us ask for the bill and made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. No apologies were offered for any issue we had. The bill came to £146, extortionate for the food and service but a small price to pay to realise that we will never come here again. Sul Lago wake up! You need to take a long look at the way you do things, employ new staff who are customer focussed, source new suppliers as the quality of produce was lamentable and turn the tv off!!!!! Rarely have i been so let down by a restaurant and in light of this i shall be telling anyone who will listen to steer well clear.
Sul Lago – OldhamWe had a family meal at Sul Lago. Lovely food, very friendly and efficient staff and great service. Definitely a place to return to. Would advise that you book at weekends as even early on Saturday it was rather busy.
Sul Lago – OldhamBooked a table and the pub booked us in on the wrong day!!! 'Squeezed' us in, then less than two hours later when we hadn't finished our meal told us they wanted the table back in 5 mins!!! Good service, I think not! When challenged the Landlord was very unsympathetic and said we could pay him £15 a head to keep the table all night?! I think we'd spent more than enough if this was his attitude! Apparently all bookings made before 8pm only have a table for 2hrs- and are you told this when you book a table? Well we certainly weren't. Spoiled the celebration of my sister's birthday and engagement, will not be recommending or returning. Although you do seem to get reasonable treatment if you're a regular, but as to new business- don't seem to give a stuff. Will be booking at the Roebuck next time.
Old Original – OldhamWe've been going to this restaurant ever since it opened. The quality of the food has been consistently good over all the years. The staff are always pleasant and love to have a friendly chat whilst you wait for your meal. It all adds up to a lovely relaxing night out and an added bonus of taking your own alcohol. Highly recommended
Westwood East Bangladeshi Cuisine – OldhamFood portions are getting increasingly smaller; service was poor from an aloof waiter who couldn’t even be bothered to carry our drinks to the table, and snarled when we asked where the children’s chips were. We have been loyally going to the Millon since it opened for probably about 20 years, we won’t be going again, but looking to one of the other many Indian restaurants in the area who I sure will value our custom
Millon Restaurant – Oldhamwent here for a family meal. i wasn't that happy with my steak as it went back twice and on the third go they got it perfect (rare). problem was everyone had finished so i had a family meal on my own. i was told by other family friends who had been before about the bad delivery and the food quality but we gave it ago. over all 6 out of 10.
Ancora – OldhamHave been shopping @ oldhams new market, a good start. What made it for me was sat out side in the sun eating the best fish and chips i have had in years well worth the visit will be back
Levers Fish and Chip Shop – OldhamHmmmm, everyone else had a great time? *confused* The food was really quite average, the lighting way too bright and the ambience was plucked out of a scene from Shirley Valentine. Would not go again unless the menu/chef/manager changed.
Sul Lago – OldhamI have been eating Indian food for as long as I can remember, but this has to bee some of the best I have ever had, also used them for outside catering as usual brilliant food and prices.
Cafe Lahore – OldhamWill I like Cafe Lahore That’s the question you’re asking if you’re reading this, perhaps with a view to a forthcoming visit. You will like Cafe Lahore if: 1). You like to be served by waiters who look as though they’re practising for gurning contests when you ask for something so basic as a glass. 2). You find it enjoyable to be served by waiters who have no manners. 3). You like to be served by waiters who are environmentally friendly in only providing one set of cutlery to last you a 3 course meal. 4). You find it of interest to be served by waiters who have deceptive pace i.e. who move at a snails pace during the ‘marathon’ of a meal only to change gear into a sprint finish when the cash for the meal is put out. 5). You enjoy having to wait 45 minutes for a starter and a further hour and a half after that for your main meal. 6). Whilst waiting for your food you enjoy watching the chefs make up take out after take out after take out. 7). You enjoy being treated to the delightful sounds of MTV bass and Kiss emanating from a large flat screen TV in the centre of the establishment. 8). You are quite happy to pay an average price for average food. 9). Your expectations of a restaurant fall within the MacDonalds/KFC pantheon.
