West Tower Country House – OrmskirkFantastic authentic Italian dining experience. The only complaint was that I couldn't have everything on the menu. The staff are friendly and make excellent suggestions regarding menu choices and suitable wine. I can't wait to go back!
Quattro’s – OrmskirkThe food here is exquisite! we visited West Tower for a special occasion & i can honestly say we couldn't of chosen a better place. the staff are so attentive without being intrusive, & the atmosphere is one of understated elegance. will definatley be back soon!
West Tower Country House – OrmskirkQuattro? is an excellent Italian restaurant with a Sardinian flavour. We knew it existed, but the best recommendation we had was from a waiter in an excellent restaurant called La Rocca in Baia Sardegna near Porto Cuervo who had worked there. It is a genuinely Italian restaurant, too; many so-called Italian restaurants over here simply serve an Italian menu and pay mere lip service to the quality of the dishes. Quattro? serve the quality of food you would expect in a good local restaurant in Italy. There are several reasons for this; ingredients are high quality, but also the chef's are Italian and know what they are doing. Meat and fish were both fresh and good quality. Choices of dishes were good. Starters and pasta are tasty, the Malloredus (with Sargegnan cured wild boar sausage) was top notch, and the sauce with the prawns was wonderful. There is a great selection of main courses (secondi platti); never trust an Italian menu that doesn't serve veal - and Quattro? two veal dishes are excellent, I'd recommend the saltimbocca very highly. There was a great selection of seafood and steak dishes too. Portions are a good size, cheaper restaurants fill you up with poor-quality pasta and skimp on the more expensive ingredients. Not so here, there are plenty of both. Too much in fact; in Italy you'd have a starter, then a pasta course and a meat or fish course plus of course a dessert. We couldn't have managed that here! The wine list has a good selection of quality wines; having visited Sardegna we know our way round a good wine list. We chose torbatta which is a very nice but little known white. There was a nice selection of reds too; we'll sample the DOC Cannonau next time. The grappa was the excellent brown Nardini, definitely a sign they are selective in what they give to customers. It is a very friendly place; they make you feel special, even if it's your first time. Children are welcomed - always a good sign. My only regret is that they didn't serve Porceddu (Sardegnan roast suckling pig) or serve the excellent Terra Brune red wine. It's hard to find a good restaurant in North Liverpool; we are really glad we found Quattro? and will now be regulars
Quattro’s – OrmskirkMy boyfriend and I ate here recently and I have been desperate to go back ever since. I had the most fantastic night. The staff are very friendly and attentive but in no way false, they are just lovely people. The ambience is so relaxed and I just felt totally at home. Now for the food - wow! I think it is up there as one of the best Italian meals I have ever had - and I have been to Rome! I immediately noticed that the menu is very varied and caters for all tastes. We had prawns in filo pastry and spare ribs to start, both of which were delicious. We both chose a steak for main course but had different sauces, both of which were again delicious - cutting the steak was like putting a hot knife through butter and it just melted in your mouth. We had tiramisu and chocolate fudge cake to finish with and this just rounded off the perfect meal. All washed down with a beautiful bottle of Pinot Grigio and a very creamy Baileys coffee. Yum. All in all we had a fantastic night. You couldn't ask for more - excellent food, wonderful service and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. I would recommend it to anyone.
Quattro’s – OrmskirkParty of 11 dined on Sunday lunch staff were excellent catering for our daughter of 3 although they don't have a Childs menu. Once again, an excellent meal, which we recommended to our family who were all suitably impressed. Until next time... thank you
Left Bank Brasserie – OrmskirkExcellent, always dine on the early specials menu so really good value for money. Lovely comfortable seating with plenty of space between tables.
Left Bank Brasserie – Ormskirksuperb food on a well run restaurant. Friendly staff and very professional. Service is flawless.
Left Bank Brasserie – OrmskirkThe atmosphere was amazing, service was brilliant, the staff were welcoming and friendly and the food was gorgeous!!
Farmers Arms – OrmskirkWe hadn't seen our friends for ages and they had reserved a table for us at the Farmers as its known locally. We arrived early and sat in the bar area and had a couple of drinks while pondering over the menu and looking at the specials board. What a great choice there was. Judging by the amount of people coming and going from the restaurant part of the establishment. It was wise of our friends to book. The service was not obtrusive, professional, courteous and friendly. We asked for a break between courses. No problem. The presentation of the food was excellent and tasted the same. I think someone said it was under new management. I can only say keep up the good work to the staff and management at. The Farmers Arms. Burscough. We had a great night. Thanks.....
Farmers Arms – OrmskirkThis pub now offers the best food, drink and atmosphere in the area. We used to be able to just walk in and get a table, now you are well advised to book in advance - any night of the week! The menu offers a wide range of excellent dishes and the daily specials are so numerous that 'memorising the specials board' has almost become a pastime. The quality of food and drink and high standards of service go way beyond what you expect for 'pub grub'. The most attractive point in the 'Farmers' though, is the friendly staff and wonderful ambience created by landlord and host Edward. You are made to feel so at home and welcome that you really don't want to leave even after your meal is over. The care and attention to detail is evident throughout, from the decor to the food, the service and the care of the fine ales. This is a pub where everyone really is made to feel special. The canalside location is stunning and deserves a mention but really, you will feel so welcome inside you will hardly want to go outside to admire the view!
