Great food, friendly service and very good wine list for a Indian restaurant
Mutley Spice – PlymouthGreat pub with fantastic real ales, the menu choice is slightly limited by to days standard but there is always something to suit everyone and its all homemade/home cooked and beautifully fresh. Portions are pretty big but if you can manage a pud then there's plenty of proper english one's to choose from. Staff are always helpful & friendly and it is exceptional value for money.
Boringdon Arms – PlymouthWe took our daughter and five of her friends out for a birthday celebration at Yukisan and we can't really praise it enough. The staff is professional and polite (now there's a change) and the service and food were both excellent. We sat upstairs, too and loved the atmosphere. It was a little hard on our backs and legs after awhile though we still recommend it for an authentic experience. 5 stars on all counts. If you haven't been, get going!
Yukisan – PlymouthNice atmosphere, good beer and wine. Starter - pate/terrine was ok. Main - steak was variable - my rare one was cooked close to medium, and my wife's blue one (and this was repeated many times to the waitress!) was medium-rare, and remained mainly on the plate. The chips (though they called them something different) were very greasy and tired. Dessert - coffee creme brulee was really really very poor. It was more of a layer of (reheated?) thick jellified custard lying on a coffee mousse - and I left it (not because I was full). The service was very friendly but patchy. We were charged for drinks which we cancelled 25 minutes after being ordered.
Rose And Crown – PlymouthI met some girlfriends for lunch here recently and was most impressed. The lunch menu was lovely and well priced, I believe it was about £8 for 2 courses. A very relaxed dining experience, lovely attention to detail and excellent service.
Chloe’s Restaurant – PlymouthVisited Leandra restaurant for the first time 5 months ago (4 of us), had advertised outside a set price for a three course ,however upon seating we were told that particular deal was off ,when i asked why,he just pointed to the menu abruptly, my girlfriend ordered the peppered steak well done when it arrived it was rare and bloody instead of cooking a fresh piece he just threw it on the grill for a couple off mins , the service through out the evening was terrible, the waiter had an attitude (which was noticed by the table next to us)and to add insult to injury he started to spray detergent on the table next to us while we were eating (which didn't taste very nice with the meal) needless to say wont be frequenting this establishment again
Leandra The – PlymouthTried this restaurant when it first opened and it was great, tried it again a few months later and the service and food were poor. Decided to go for lunch to see if things had improved and they have not - terrible food and terrible service. I would not have minded if the place was busy but there was only 3 other tables, it took the waitress 15 minutes from taking my order to come back and say my dish was out of stock and then another 25 minutes to produce the worst baguette I have tasted, tasteless limp bacon with brie that was just out of a fridge and a splodge of cranberry sauce - the best bit was the crisps that accompanied it, my OHs meal was no better, over cooked scampi and chips served with peas and some Caesar salad! It is such a shame the food is so bad as the decor of the restaurant is really nice. It was once a good place to eat but is certainly somewhere I will not visit again.
Fishbone Restaurant and Bar – PlymouthTried this restaurant when it first opened and it was great, tried it again a few months later and the service and food were poor. Decided to go for lunch to see if things had improved and they have not - terrible food and terrible service. I would not have minded if the place was bust but there was only 3 other tables, it took the waitress 15 minutes from taking my order to come back and say my dish was out of stock and then another 25 minutes to produce the worst baguette I have tasted, tasteless limo bacon with brie that was just out of a fridge and a splodge of cranberry sauce - the best bit was the crisps that accompanied it, my OHs meal was no better, over cooked scampi and chips served with peas and some Caesar salad! It is such a shame the food is so bad as the decor of the restaurant is really nice. It was once a good place to eat but is certainly somewhere I will not visit again.
Fishbone Restaurant and Bar – PlymouthJust returned from this restaurant and the food was excellent!!! Although as a sole diner I would have liked a little more attention, although there was a large party dining at the same time. Would definitely try this restaurant again, hopefully next time I would get a little more attention.
Zeus – PlymouthVery disappointed in this restaurant. Our small party spent over £250 pounds and yet they still made a charge of £8 for for bulk standard bread . I have written to the restaurant with my complaint and the did not even have the decency to acknowledge my correspondence. I really feel that this place is out to exploit its customers on the back of some daytime television shows
Barbican Kitchen – PlymouthLove it here! The chicken is always really moist and the chips are the best of all fast food joints. They should offer a free range or organic chicken selection though.
Nando’s – PlymouthThis is a very nice little cafe right on the harbour front. The food and specials are very good and not too expensive. The coffee is good too and it's a very nice place to meet people.
Montys – PlymouthThe restaurant is often fairly quiet as it is not in a busy location. The food is generally very good and there are many dishes in the Indian home cooking style. I'd recommend trying the dishes with names you may not recognise from standard curry houses, for example, Paun Bhajee, Bengan Bhartha or their Dhosas (the last are not always available). These dishes are very spicy but not hot.
Veggie Perrins – PlymouthVery good food and atmosphere. We enjoyed a real mixture of food with simple Bistro Fare. Last week we tried Soused Herrings, brilliant Oysters, Linguine of Clams and Mussels as well as a wonderful Cassoulet of Pheasant and Venison. Seasonal cheese included Vacherin Mont d'Or and a funky Chocolate and Stilton Tart. Knowledgeable staff really able to guide you to the right dishes on the night. Loved the Sharpham New Release and the coffee was tops. This is a really casual/laid-back Bistro, one which we really love and would go back whenever we can. Heartily recommended.
Bistro One – PlymouthWe decided to visit Chloe's based on the reviews on this site. We were not disappointed, the food and service were superb. We have eaten in many fine restaurants including the Savoy and can honestly say that the food is up there with the best of them. I am so pleased we have a restaurant like this in Plymouth, nice atmosphere, great food and top service. Jo was a great host and Didier came out to talk to us which was a nice touch. We will be back!
Chloe’s Restaurant – PlymouthI challenge anyone to come away from this place disappointed! from the minute you arrive and are greeted by the friendly hosts you feel comfy and welcome, The food is among the best I've ever tasted! even the fried rice is an amazing taste, I had chicken with basil leaves and was in heaven with every taste, my partner was in similar ecstasy with her thai green veg curry, I have since used this place as a takeaway and was equally impressed! I will never eat chinese food again!!!
Thai House The – PlymouthNice decor! and nice presentation of food, but that was as good as it got I'm afraid. the staff were quite grumpy, and they also didn't return our change from the bill, even though it was little over a pound, i didn't tell them to keep the change. The food? i had the chicken Jalfrezi and it was dominated by onions, probably the worst I've had! shame really had high hopes but wont be going back.
Cafe Indiya – PlymouthMe and my boyfriend have been here 3 times now each time it has been great the food is great, the best Indian restaurant we have been to yet the food is lovely and fresh going again soon, highly recommended. Emma and Mark.
