The best restaurant in plymouth - great food, great service and all at a great price!!!!
Chandlers Bar and Bistro – PlymouthThe food here was amazing with such a wonderful choice of fresh sea food and sizzling steaks, and being able to sit out looking over the marina topped off the evening.
Chandlers Bar and Bistro – PlymouthThe restaurant and staff were totally amzing, the Japanese dining room is the perfect touch and the food is exquisite!! I can't recommend it more.
Yukisan – PlymouthYet another superb evening, the creative artistry and magnificent tasting food just keep getting better. You were as ever the perfect hosts, thank you. David & Tre
Yukisan – PlymouthHaving dined at this restaurant for well over a decade, I am never disappointed. A friendly atmosphere and attentive staff, plus an excellent choice of menu (the Meza is a feast for two!) make this a good venue for an intimate dinner or for large parties. Booking a must at weekends - when the atmosphere charges up with Hen parties and dancing.
Grecian Taverna The – PlymouthThis is a brilliant place in Plymouth for lunch or a mid-afternoon hot chocolate! The largest and most fantastic around-ask for a bucket and try to get a sofa! The food is lovely, with good size portions. A great chilled out restaurant for lunch or dinner with friends.
Lorenzo – PlymouthWe have visited this restaurant a number of times and have had very good food each time. However the friendliness of the staff makes it the visit worthwhile. They seem to genuinely enjoy and have fun in their job, which as a customer it is a pleasure to see. The staff will offer recommendations on the wine and daily specials which have never failed to be superb, the veal was especially so.
Positano – PlymouthOur third visit to this colourful bistro was made by the quality of the seafood and fish. Lovely original flavours mingle with sweetness and texture. Wines worth a mention with an excellent bin-end selection providing an excellent match to the chosen dishes. A lovely downtown bistro well worth searching for.
Bistro One – PlymouthWe have eaten at this restaurant half a dozen times since it has opened, having eaten Japanese food in Japan, we found the authentic experience of dining in the upstairs dining room a wonderful one. Our martial arts club had a banquet there last night and we were treated royally. MAGNIFICENT, I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT EVERYONE TRY THIS BEAUTIFUL RESTAURANT.
Yukisan – PlymouthWe have been to The China House 3 or 4 times and have never been disappointed. I love the atmosphere, as it is a really old building, with lots of cosy corners and uneven floors etc. It is particularly wonderful at Christmas, with a huge floor to ceiling tree. The menu is above average pub fare, very well - priced and always served promptly. There is quite a good wine list and the staff are happy to recommend a bottle. I haven't sampled the Christmas menu, but it reads very well and again is competitively priced. We live in St Austell, but would definitely be regulars if we lived nearer. Richard & Helen Boyle
China House The – PlymouthVery good introduction to Japanese food, we were able to sit in the 'Japanese room' upstairs which you have to request on booking, made it a really different experience. Don't go there if you like feeling stuffed after a meal, go for a romantic 'on the floor' dinner with some amazingly, delicately prepared food. Service was good and with a smile. Teriyaki Beef and sea bass are excellent choices. The sushi was far better than the offerings at M&S, yes, kind of pricey, but worth the money.
Yukisan – PlymouthVery pleasant, could not fault it on any thing and the staff are very friendly.
Eastern Eye – PlymouthSpot on stuff in Plymouth? student quarter. This is the place for fresh seafood; try the Yealm oysters, grilled with three simple sauces. This little bistro is well worth finding for the coffee alone!
Bistro One – PlymouthTucked away on Ebrington Street in Plymouth this restaurant is excellent. It offers a fresh, locally produced menu, which although isn't extensive is absolutely sublime. I would say ditch the table coverings and put on some music and it would be a hit (if it isn't already). Wine tasting evenings will be available shortly.
Bistro One – PlymouthThey serve the best Indian food in Plymouth!
Cafe Indiya – PlymouthThe food is always great when we go here. The ribs for starters and the King prawns are a must have! Fajitas are fantasic too. Whatever you choose you won't be disappointed. Don't forget to book at weekends!
Arribas – PlymouthMy husband had never tried Japanese food before and as I had lived in Japan a few years ago, I wanted to introduce him to the cuisine. We were quickly greeted and seated, and drinks arrived almost as soon as we ordered. The menu was clear and the choice of food was varied - yakitori, sushi, sashimi, etc... We chose a variety of dishes - all of them were cooked fresh and the presentation was excellent - and for someone who is fussy, my other half loved all of the food! Although not the same as I remembered, the food was excellent and had not been "anglified" at all. My only concern was that the only Japanese beer available was Kirin Beer, and that 180ml of Saki was £6. The evening out was a touch more expensive than we would usually pay, but we will go again and recommend to anyone!
Yukisan – PlymouthI came here a long time ago, when it was a dark and dingy pub/restaurant. Looking for somewhere 'nice' but informal with a memorable setting for my guests to eat, decided to try the Dolphin as I'd overheard favourable comment. First impressions were -wow - Lightly illuminated with a lot of pale timber and slate floors - it was a vibrant and dynamic environment. We had to work hard to find a seat (having not booked) but found a large adult sized solid timber table. It felt like home. Food was well presented and bang up to date. I have no hesitation in making a return trip.
