Nando’s – Preston
Preston in Lancashire is a cosmopolitan city located on the River Ribble and is also the home of the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN). Many restaurants and food pubs can be found in the city centre and its suburbs.
THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT AS WAS THE ATMOSPHERE AND WOULD RECOMMEND AND WILL BE DOING TO MY FRIENDS
Nando’s – PrestonMy partner and I both chose the Chicken and Leak pie and it was excellent. Last time I was here it was just a small cafe with a few tables. Now they have extended considerably with a restaurant at the rear. It all has a really nice feel as it is a former Barn and is in rural green surroundings. They have a great little function room which is a stand alone building with its own wood burning oven and 360 views. Well worth a visit.
The Barn at Scorton – PrestonVisited Thyme Houghton for first time last night to celebrate my birthday with my lovely husband. The restaurant is quite small and intimate and for a Tuesday night was about three quarters full when we left. The service was very attentive and friendly. We had a canape each of miniature Yorkshire pud with delicious roast beef and gravy. warm bread rolls were also served. Hubby ordered chicken livers and I had rabbit and ox cheek stew served in a small pot with 2 small slices of ciabatta and raspberry sauce. Didn't care for the sauce much but both starters were delicious. For mains hubby had assiette of meat, rump, sirloin and mutton, served with 3 different flavoured mash and delicious meat gravy. I had silver hake with caper butter, I absolutely loved this meaty fish served with chorizo and mash and selection of well cooked but boring, julienne carrots, brocolli, cauliflour and new potatoes. For sweet hubby had pear and wine just tart tattin with ice cream and I had white chocolate cheesecake with white choc ice cream. The whole meal was a delight and with two soft drinks we paid £37 - mind you we did use our hi-life card which gave us one main and one starter free. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and hope to visit again soon. They also do a special menu at £14.95 for three courses, served all night. Off the a la carte, starters £8, mains £18 - £20 and sweets £7
The Sirloin Inn – PrestonA truly unique venue, delicious meal was had by all of us and the staff were very friendly and efficient. The seafood in particular was very well cooked and presented beautifully the scallops and fillet a good combination of flavours. We shall most definitely be back soon, to have even more sangria
Duk-Pond – PrestonWent for a curry with my girlfriend after hearing good things about Bangla Fusion. We had a friendly greeting and were seated with menus and drinks to decide what to have to eat. The surroundings are great for this, lots of comfy sofas. We were taken to our table and enjoyed some poppadoms and skipped straight to the mains. I had an Aje-Baje - chicken tikka - with a naan bread. It was the right amount of spice for me. Girlfriend had a fusion dish, with a spicy salmon with rice. Portions were excellent, service friendly and the price reasonable. Didn't realise they did a special offer on a Sunday between 1 PM 0 6 PM with three courses for around £12. Bargain! A good restaurant, in the running for an F-word nomination and a jewel in the crown of Lancashire's restaurant scene.
Nellie The Elephant – PrestonII had been meaning to get around to booking a mean in this wonderful looking building for ages. Finally managed to get around to it, what a disappointment. It was like waking up in the 1970's. It felt like the chef had not had a new idea (or cook book) for the last 30 years. The food was bland, poorly presented and very unimaginative. The waiting staff appeared to have been dressed for a Victorian farce, long black dresses, white frilly aprons and solid sensible footwear. All in all, an expense mistake, will not be making a return appearance.
Ye Horns Inn – PrestonThe nicest Pizzas i have ever eaten, in the World let alone Preston, the staff are friendly and polite, I've never seen the owner without a smile on his face, i cant recommend this restaurant highly enough, but be careful with the 70% proof Absinthe, its nearly as hot as the Totto's Special Pizza, Excellent!!!!!!!
Tottos – PrestonReally impressed with this place. Perfect if you wish to buy furniture too!
Whittles Farm Restaurant – PrestonI had never been to a Pizza Express before so I was naturally curious as to why it is so popular, I went here yesterday and I will definitely not be eating there again. I ordered a pasta dish which came out and it was stone cold in the middle, I took it back and got no apology they just put it in the oven and brought it back hot enough to burn my mouth. Not only this but the beer and wine is extortionate and the contempt of the foreign lady when she had to reprint the bill because I had a printed voucher to use was downright rude. The staff here don't give a shit, none of them are English (or Italian) and I simply will avoid any Pizza Express for the rest of my days. One word - shit.
Pizza Express – PrestonWe have had many lovely visits to EastZEast in Manchester and raved about it , so when we heard one had opened in Preston, nearer to where we live we were pleased. We had the shared starter of fish, samosas, chicken etc which was really tasty and both went for the Lamb Ghosti which was delicious. Although we enjoyed the meal it did not feel like the special experience of EastZEast by the canal in Manchester. When we visit Manchester you are greeted by a man dressed in indian costume who is very friendly and welcoming. In Manchester it feels romantic and relaxed and the staff make it feel a special experience. In EastZEast Preston, it failed to deliver the same experience. We felt very rushed and it was very busy and noisy. We had not even eaten our poppadoms before another plate was shoved next to us and the starter arrived. We also felt pressured to hurry our meal as if they desperately wanted our table. We hate being rushed when we go out for a romantic meal and did not like the atmosphere there, so we will not go back. We will stick with Manchester next time!
East Z East – PrestonYoung or old ,alone, a couple or a party all will enjoy the excellent food - and the genuine welcome afforded to their customers by all the staff. I am not a smoker but am amazed at the smoking area decked out with comfy chairs, cushions, nice tables and a wood fire for the colder times. No lurking about (looking furtive) at the front door for these smokers .The Landlady and Landlord run what must be the best Pub in the area. Everything is clean comfortable and welcoming and last but not least 'as said previously' the food is excellent and for those people whose appetite is not as hearty as it once was there is a lighter bite menu. I feel sure that if you try it you will not be disappointed
Smiths Arms – PrestonI went here last night for a meal with a couple of friends. I've been here twice before and have to say this time the overall night (food & service) seemed so much better i will be returning soon. thank you
Italian Orchard – PrestonWe had our daughters christening at Tinos. The function room was lovely, service was excellent and everyone commented on how delicious the food was. Had a fantastic day and would certainly recommend Tinos Restaurant.
Tinos – PrestonWe held our Wedding Reception at Tinos and haven't stopped receiving compliments. As a fussy' bride to be' Tinos were more than accommodating; giving lots of advice and reassurances. Their professionalism shone through on the night and every request was dealt with in a 5 star manner. The chefs laid on what I can only describe as the most stunning mouth watering food that made for an unforgettable Wedding party. The champagne and canape reception was a fabulous start to the evening and set the scene for our Casino themed event. We still can't believe how they delivered a high end service, beyond expectation, at such a reasonable price. If you are looking for a venue for that special occasion then Tinos should be on your shortlist.
Tinos – PrestonHad a really nice lunch at pond today, we chose the chefs tasters absolutely delicious, we had visited duk previously and thought that nothing would be as good but i have to say that both are excellent. I will be recommending both far and wide and i shall look forward to visiting again soon. We are very intrigued by freds shed they say its coming soon it sounds exciting these people are obviously talented and creative with names, i for one cant wait to see what it is.
Duk-Pond – PrestonThe restaurant decor was quite nice, but the bar was self service and I felt that the price for water and accompaniments was way over the top, considering the prices which were charged for what I found to be quite average food. Overall, the food was ok but not worth what they were asking. In my opinion if someone is happy to pay these prices for Indian food, the Indian gourmet evening at truffles restaurant in whittle-le-woods is definitely superior.
Nellie The Elephant – PrestonIf you want a great meal and excellent eating experience go to the Shampan, I recommend their Nepali chicken or any of their meals on the menu as they are all prepared and cooked to perfection, the staff, Kal and his team, are the friendliest I have come across. Penworthams finest.
The Shampan – PrestonA little piece of heaven! We first dined at Angels on Christmas Day 2008 and have returned to this fabulous restaurant many times since. We have always received a first class service. In January my husband arranged my 50th birthday celebration and booked the whole restaurant for the occasion. Everyone was totally amazed by the venue, the lovely staff and of course the wonderful food. (they are still talking about it!) We have recommended it to many of our friends and they have never been disappointed. We are there again tonight for the dinner jazz evening and look forward to another unique dining experience. Thank you Nick, Shaun, Lewis, Simon and team.
