Don Alberto Ristorante Italiano – PrestonHad a fab meal at Continental south meadow lane Preston. Desserts were so beautiful didn't want to eat it, glad i did twas divine, great to have a lovely pub to visit in what must be one of best locations in county
The Continental – Prestonthis was one of the worst meals me and my family have ever tried ,truly awful and the food was overpriced . do not go here it is RUBBISH .They should have paid me to eat there food.
Slice Of Sicily – PrestonVery surprising. The staff excel [generally] at being there without hovering, food is high quality - none of your brown sloppy Indian food here. This is where i take my friends and family when they visit - highly recommended.
King Karai – PrestonWe've been twice since the restaurant opened this summer - excellent both times. The menu has everything you would expect plus some specialities and the food has a fresh - and freshly cooked - flavour you don't find everywhere. Service is impeccable - well organised and attentive without being overbearing. All in all well worth recommending.
The Shampan – PrestonTop restaurant, Excellent food, very good service, what more can you want
The Shampan – PrestonVisited the Conti on the opening day and I have to say, what a great job they have done on the place. The food was great, from the freshness and quality of the ingredients, to the presentation and variety on the menu. Will definitely come back and be bringing my friends.
The Continental – PrestonWent on Saturday to a new concept that was a first of its kind at Pond a Spanish night, I must admit I wasn't sure as a lot of people try these "themed" nights and they are not very good, Pond however was fantastic, the music superb, the food good, the atmosphere was really lively and we all said we will definitely go back, it just goes to show that the people who own Duk restaurant ( same owners as Pond) really do know their stuff and always seem to know what their customers really want, I just hope that they have another soon its a great venue and i wish them every success, they also had a guy serving Urquell, if my memory serves me correctly it was a Czech beer, delicious, go try it you'll have a great time, apparently they have just started lunch offers, we will definitely be first i the queue .
Duk-Pond – PrestonWent today on opening day - fantastic food, atmosphere, drink, and garden. Can't wait to go back!!
The Continental – PrestonWe've been going here for years. The menu has never changed, but neither has the quality of the food and service which are both excellent. No pressure from the staff, just nice n'easy in this family run business, where you can sit down in traditional surroundings and relax. Take your own drink as it isn't licensed so you won't be ripped off for cheap wine at high prices. If you go in winter you get the roaring fires as well !! Excellent value for money and the homemade blackcurrant tart for dessert should not be missed. Five courses plus coffee for £15 (July 2008) ... what more can you want ? Nothing fancy, just good tasty food and you wont leave hungry !
The Cottage 1771 – PrestonOur 2nd visit to Pond last Friday evening with brother and sister in law. The place was buzzing and most tables were taken. We chose to have the banquet, which starts at £16 each, but we opted for £20 each. This was a selection of chef's choice brought to our table, starting with bread with various toppings, cheese, mushroom, chili, tomato, all very tasty. Followed by two types of potatoes, bravas and garlic, a pancetta salad, chicken wrapped in parma ham, fillet steak in onions and mushroom and the sweetest cherry tomatoes, topped with a buttery spinach, sea bass with mushrooms. We then asked if there was anything else to come and the waiter asked what we would like. He then suggested a dessert of chocolate dipping sauce with strawberries and raspberries and the most delicious chocolate cake, lovely! With two pints of Peroni, a white wine and soda, the bill came to £105. The meal was very enjoyable, however, we did wonder if we would have got the same amount of food for £16 a head as we did for £20? Still, along with DUK, Pond is still one of my favourite eating places and we will definitely be going again.
Duk-Pond – PrestonMyself and my friend and her parents arrived at the Italian Orchard, 5 minutes prior to opening, blissfully unaware of what time it opened and went to enquire the opening time and were told it was 6pm. We stood outside waiting as the gentleman who told us what time they opened went back inside and locked the door. We waited until 6pm and there was still no sign of the restaurant opening and no sign of anybody inside. Then a man appeared and we looked at him expectantly and he just shook his head and said one minute, by this time there was thunder rumbling and the rain had started. No attempts what so ever were made to open the doors and offer us a seat in the reception area so we retreated to the car to find another restaurant along with another couple who to were sick of waiting. We tried ringing the restaurant directly to complain, but this was to no avail! Seriously poor customer service.
Italian Orchard – PrestonAfter a particularly bad day my wife and I chose to go to Bangla Fusion. Even though it was a Tuesday we were pleased to see other diners on our arrival. Not long after we realised why - Bangla Fusion is fantastic, they have varied menu from the traditional favourites to their own creations. We chose from the Fusion creation list and our meal was the tastiest indian meal we have had for a long time. Accompanied by Bangla beer ,pleasant attentive staff (but not over bearing) we had a very enjoyable evening. Well done to Topu (front of house) and all the staff, keep up the good work, we will definitely be back very soon.
Nellie The Elephant – PrestonWe had a very pleasant lunch here, well cooked, excellent value for money, friendly staff, good table settings...what more could you want? We will be back, that is for sure
Salvatore’s Ristorante – PrestonThe first thing you notice on entering this restaurant is that its immaculate. Your welcome is sincere as you are guided to the bar seating area for a drink. The food is excellent and the service attentive and friendly from a young crew of waiters with tricky haircuts! The management are justly proud of this fairly new Preston Indian restaurant. Give it a go!
Touch Of Spice – PrestonThe best restaurant since 1977 it was in the other side of the road at number 16 the best pasta and pizzas of Lancashire, it made the history of the Italian food in Lancashire, and also it as been at school for all the Italians wich now have the restaurants in many towns in Lancashire .
Angelos – PrestonA gang of of visited this new baby of duks last week end it was amazing, the standards are just as high, and it was packed out standing room only at the bar, the food delicious, service impeccable, the choice of new drinks like whistling duck and duck pond brilliant. I had the most juicy fillet steak with a garlic sauce my friend had a some weird dish of stewy stuff, that chef made up for him, it shouldn't have tasted good, but it was out of this world, it had fruit and meat together --odd, Ramsey would have a fit, must be nice to be sure you can make anything taste so good and not be afraid to break the mold, the prices are also very good value our bill only came to £28.00 each and we had really nice wine and a couple of desserts between us, one was a large metal bucket yes bucket of summer berries dusted with icing sugar and served with chocolate dip! FOOD Heaven. You must visit you will not be disappointed, good luck duk, you have two fab places, by the way love the name POND, only got it after a few bottles of wine! ha ha We'll be back soon so watch out were coming for a lazy afternoon on the sofas and going to work our way through the menu
Duk-Pond – PrestonWe had the most delicious tapas here last night (Sunday). It was very quiet and only one other couple dined as we were there. We had pitta bread with 4 delicious dips, huge prawns in garlic (the best!) patatas bravas, fillet steak strips and chicken strips with african spices and scallops done in chilli and garlic. With a bottle of house wine and pre dinner drinks ofa pint of peroni and a glass of wine and soda, the bill came to £54.06, which we thought was excellent value. Having dined at their sister restaurant DUK in preston several times, we knew we would be getting quality food and they didnt disappoint. We shall certainly be returning to POND as soon as possible and highly recommend this restaurant.
