Fabulous food, atmosphere, hospitality. One of the best Thai restaurants I have visited.
Spice Garden – RamsbottomWent here recently and it is fabulous! Their Pad Thai is amazing! Really friendly staff!
Spice Garden – RamsbottomCosy pub atmosphere with fantastic food, which far exceeding our expectations. The mutton & leek suet pudding was so nice, as were the chips which were the best I've had in a while. Sticky toffee pudding was lovely and light, (although it comes with custard, we asked for the homemade ice-cream & they were happy to oblige). Good selection of real ales, and the walk back down the hill into Ramsbottom finished off the evening nicely. Will definitely be going again.
Shoulder Of Mutton – RamsbottomAwful, my parents had visited previously and really liked it and decided to take the whole family there for a little get together, they were really let down, we had to wait an hour before we could even order food as they was apparently to busy and had to stop food for over an hour so being understanding at that time we waited and after an hour we placed our order, we then had to wait for 45 minutes and being starving at that time we asked how long for the food to be told it going to be at least another 25 minutes because they were still busy. We evenly got our food and to be honest it really wasn't all that. None of us will be returning there again and will resort to trying the other pubs in the area, anything would be better that starving for over an hour.
Shoulder Of Mutton – RamsbottomFirst time diner having visited many other local restaurants. The Lounge has nice interior, service functional, good choice of menu but some dishes on Sunday night not available. Starters of mushroom and artisan bread very disappointing, plaice excellent, really nicely cooked, pork well cooked but for £13 not value for money. On balance not enough to lure back again given prices of dishes.
The Lounge – RamsbottomMost of the food OK but when I complained about a rather tasteless dessert, the chef/owner comes out baffled why I didn't like it, starts shouting and explaining he doesn't need repeat customers because how busy he is. This place reeks of arrogance where a chef believes he comes before the customer. Go to beerintheevening.com to see honest reviews about this pub. Stay away
Shoulder Of Mutton – RamsbottomI have to say we were rather disappointed with our dining experience. Our starters of one prawn and one salmon dish were in our opinion over-priced, especially the salmon, which was a very minimal portion. However, both were very tasty. The real disappointment for us however, was the cuts of chicken in the main courses. It never occurred to us that we would not be served breast meat, which has been our experience in all other Indian restaurants we frequent. The chicken appeared to a be a mix of mainly thigh and leg cuts- very little white meat. The sauces and spices however were again tasty. The service was very friendly but perhaps the menus especially the cuts of meat being used should have been explained to us. It is not what we would regard as good value for money.
Sanmini’s – RamsbottomI took my partner and five friends to Sanmini's last night, two of these 'curry virgins' and six of us totally new to South Indian food.. Wow, what a fantastic evening - the menu was explained, dishes recommended (hard to order when you don't know what goes with what, but we were helped with this with no rush or pressure), the service was fantastic.. And the food - amazing food! Wonderful flavours and fragrances, varying levels of 'hot' and 'not so hot' but nothing, even to our rather bland palates, was overpowering at all, no matter how spicy. Every member of our party tried something (more than one thing) new and every single one of us will be back again!
Sanmini’s – RamsbottomWe all went for lunch from work and I must say I was dubious but the food was absolutely delicious we all had something different and the food was to die for and the pub is a nice olde worlde pub with a nice roaring fire and the staff where really nice and friendly.
Shoulder Of Mutton – RamsbottomI recently had the displeasure of dining at the Buddha Lounge, which delivers good quality food with a terrible service. My girlfriend and I were made to feel most uncomfortable by the chap appearing to manage the place, Ben, who appears to prefer his diners to instruct HIS staff on how to prepare his menu cocktails. Thanks to his attitude and his staffs rushed service we came away with one thought, perhaps Mr Murray and Mr Lau could offer a takeaway service¦ cutting out this intermediary and his poor customer service whilst still delivering nice food at a reasonable price.
Buddha Lounge – RamsbottomReally nice food not expensive but also not your usual frozen pub food service is good, you will need to book for the restaurant part rather than the pub that can get busy.
Shoulder Of Mutton – RamsbottomWe have now been to Sanmini 4 times. Twice for the excellent Thali weekend lunch menu. Forget your impression of a "normal Indian" which will most likely be Bangladesh "cuisine". This is South Indian food and is sooo tasty. We have also tasted South Indian cuisine in London's 1* Michelin Quilon Restaurant and can honestly say that the taste and freshness of Mini's cooking is superior.
Sanmini’s – Ramsbottomwent here on Sunday and it was excellent. recommend booking as they were turning people away before 7 who had not made reservations as they were busy. food delicious and good value, childrens menu fine, service friendly and unobtrusive but there when you needed it, worth the trip the young chef has got it spot on and the busy pub showed that. Will be back soon.
Shoulder Of Mutton – Ramsbottom12 months ago, I did not know the existence of The Fisherman's Retreat. Now, I'll tell anyone who'll listen how absolutely brilliant the restaurant is. We recently had a simple civil registry wedding in Bury and as such started researching restaurants in the area for an intimate lunch for 15 people. This is when we stumbled across this restaurant. We firstly went to check the place out on a Sunday and were so impressed with the food, I told my husband this is where I wanted to have our lunch. We spoke to the owner's son and he couldn't do enough for us. We had our wedding lunch two weeks later and it was just superb. They set up a private area for us and decorated the tables beautifully. We enjoyed a champagne reception outside in the sun for a little bit. All our guests were so impressed with the food and service. We have since returned several times, taking our guests and everytime the food is just superb. We plan to have another party during Christmas. Keeping in mind that we have to travel over 40 minutes to get to this restaurant, its well worth it!
The Fisherman’s Retreat – RamsbottomWe enjoyed our first visit to the lounge, all the food tasted great however the duck main course was not to our taste (too salty). What put a dampener on the evening was the lack of service from the front of house staff towards the end of our meal, after finishing our meal we had to order from the bar and it was evident to us that the staff really were not that interested and were more interested in going home, ie when I asked if we could have a capuccino as well as the wine and beer the response was "I suppose so" come on guys it wasnt even 11pm! Sorry guys but this isnt really the way to promote your business in these tough trading times.
The Lounge – RamsbottomWent along for lunch today and it was a terrible experience. The service was poor which you can make allowances for if the food is good - however....... I had soup to start but couldn't tell what it should have been, it was just terribly salty. My main course of the chicken stuffed with tomatoes and goats cheese was disappointingly bland and the 'fondant' potato was a lump of a greasy, hard substance that I would struggle to call potato - it was certainly inedible. Having decided to skip coffee, we asked for the bill and after a 10 minute wait in which time the bill didn't appear, we had to approach the bar to pay. Needless to say we didn't leave a tip and we will not return. I would normally have said something to the staff but as I was in company, I bit my lip - actually that was tastier than the 'meal'!
The Lounge – RamsbottomAbsolutely delicious food, so different from the usual 'curry house' fayre. Lovely friendly service. If you visit this place once you'll be hooked, and dying to tell all your friends to go there too. Really excellent.
Sanmini’s – Ramsbottomlove it here- such a great crowd and on a weekend and love the Thursday live music. Had a few really good nights in here! Food great, simple, lancashire tapas- very yummy.
