went to this place the food is cheap and nasty take years to get a drink and if you ask for water you would think you done a crime by the look on the waiter face. The new owners must be english the food is very poor.

Stumbled across this place whilst around town and just could not resist the prices. 2 courses for under £6.00 during happy hour ('til 7.30pm) Food was so delicious and really fast service. The calzone's are amazing. We thought because the price was so cheap, the food would be a let down, but it was the complete opposite. Interior has a very relaxing and intimate feel and the staff are really friendly, will definitely be going back.

we found this diamond in the rough on a busy Friday night. the staff were accommodating and friendly and the food was fantastic! the place looked authentic and the food definitely tasted it. everything was noticeably fresh and i had HONESTLY one of the best pizzas i have ever had in there! my partner had a steak which was cooked to perfection! the prices did not reflect the food, i would have payed twice as much!!

You get what you pay for here....poor quality food, service and cleanliness! Would not recommend! :o(

I am somewhat of a regular at Luigi's. It is an oasis in the midst of the Bigg Market. The food is ALWAYS fantastic. The service - phenomenal. You are in special luck if you are being served by Caroline or Chris. Fantastic, those two. The place wouldn't be the same without them!

My wife and I must have hit a bad spot. We saw Luigi's while in Newcastle fro a short break, on Tuesday evening September 4th. My wife is a vegetarian, and Italian restaurants usually offer more choice for her and me.
Starter was OK, both had potato wedges [a bit greasy and watery sauce]. My wife had some pasta which she said was reasonable. I ordered a Calzone Pizza. The pizza pastry was hard while I really was not sure what was served to me inside for ham. It had a very different texture to any ham I have ever had before, not nice at all. I only ate a mouthful.
I was only charged for my starter - fair enough, but then they tried to charge for wine costing £10 + when we had asked for a half litre of house wine, which was priced on their menu at £5.??. They did amend the bill for this when it was pointed out.
The atmosphere was not pleasant, obviously problems in the kitchen and a number of dishes coming out wrong etc. [I was facing the kitchen window and could see the staff]. The waiter was pleasant enough but we would never go again.
