We had a gorgeous meal and service at first was great. We then found paper in one of the dishes so we told the waiter.
A manager came over and found the situation quite amusing! All he could do was offer us another dish to replace this, and laughed along with the waiter.
After taking this up with management after, nothing came of it, but a short blunt apology by email.

hi i dined in akbars three weeks ago as i am regular visitor there an have been 4 ages even before Manchester opened an have been to most of their branches but was disgraced when i went to what i saw. As i am a muslim i pride on going to a halal establishment. an i was totally shocked to what i saw in there i saw pork steak being served on the table behind me. which is pink meat an can't be halal in any way in our religion so i will definitely not be dining in any akbars now cause i could not eat in a place that has meat cooked there so all you muslim people i urge you to go places that serve halal meat not akbars it is a disgrace to them to let that happen

Well recommended. the food was good, the service was good, you were not hurried, even though there were people waiting outside. good value for money, if you don't drink too much. best to book if in groups. or go about 6.30pm and you the meal etc.

We waited around 45 minutes for a table then we were seated in the middle section of the restaurant by the kindly staff. We were served by our waiter named Faz. the starters were excellent, the main course was fairly good, the price was reasonable and the service was superb would recommend to be served by polite staff.

Review of Akbar's restaurant, Manchester. I visited at the end of December 2009. Although the service was good, and the starters were fairly decent, the main meal was a complete let down. I ordered chicken dish. They used a mixed bag of chicken meat. The menu clearly described the dish as being made from chicken breast meat. That was clearly not the case. They had used other parts of the chicken e.g. leg etc. Also the Naan was a bit stale. Overall, just a bit too much on the greasy side.

Fourteen members of Trafford Curry Club ate here last night Wednesday 20th May 2009. We ate here in January 2008 and decided to come back to see if the high standards were still being maintained. We were not disappointed! Once again the place was very busy with many Asian people eating here as well. After poppadoms, mixed starters, a choice of main courses plus drinks and coffees the total bill came to £320. Once again we were very impressed with the waiter service, food and atmosphere. This place is nearly always packed to the rafters even midweek so they have clearly found a successful winning formula. This restaurant is the jewel in the crown of Manchester. Thank you Akbar for a lovely evening.

Very disappointing recently. Used to be a regular but the standard of service and quality of food has been slowly getting worse. After the last visit one of our party was given a meat dish, after checking that it was the veggie option he had ordered, and being told it was, he tucked in.....to a chicken rogan josh! This was the final straw for me!

Akbars was very good a while back, but recently the food is average. Hardly any dish's taste different. It is cheap though if your on a budget. It's very busy due to high numbers of asians who go there as they like value for money rather than quality
