Great place to eat. Always have a great meal. Service always good and can't you can't the prices. I would recommend it to anyone who hasn't eaten there already.. Owner and staff are very good people

I was introduced to the Little Gem by a friend this summer, we had afternoon tea, comprising of a personal choice of sandwich, beautiful scone and choice of cake , to make it perfect was the price , very reasonable .

your review states that the alleyway cafe is closed ,in fact we are as busy as ever so would you please take that statment off your database or correct it. the only thing that has changed is my telephone no which is now mobile ,as i get fedup with people trying to phone me up wasting my time by trying to sell me products i do not require,apart from that as i say ,the food is still the same its still under the same ownership (20 years now)hopefully a few more years yet, your statement reminds me of customers who come in once every five years and says (quote) i didnt know you where still here .......just come and see the alleway cafe is still alive and kicking regards steve the proprietor

Good food, freshly cooked and generous portions. I won't go there again though because I found the service niggardly. The lady serving refused to substitute something for the beans I didn't want stating it was a "set meal". The smaller breakfast offered either beans or tomatoes so I couldn't see the problem with my meal. The other thing that irritated me was that because of the small size of my plate my hash brown shot off onto the floor. The waitress removed it but didn't offer to replace it, I think that showed a lack of generosity. (Or good business sense) Anyway, the food was good but strangers are not treated particularly welcoming.

I've been going here for years and its a lovely cafe tucked away which means not everyone knows about it.. Excellent home cooked food, with generous portions. Friendly staff wait on. Not a place to visit if you are in a hurry - all the food is cooked from fresh so be prepared to wait. I can assure you it is worth it.

For a proper home cooked meal with plenty of choice, even if its not on the menu, they will do their best to oblige. Well worth a visit!
