This 400-year-old coaching inn is full of character, charm and atmosphere. It’s set just off the A49 at Cotebrook, near Tarporley, in the midst of the beautiful Cheshire countryside. The cosy beamed bar complete with log fire provides a warm welcome in winter and in summer there’s no better spot that the beer garden overlooking the duck pond and trout lake. Food is served every day from 12 noon through to 9pm (8pm Sundays) with all meals cooked to order and prepared from fresh seasonal produce. There’s also a range of quality cask ales and an extensive wine list along draught lagers, ciders, soft drinks and a selection of coffees to choose from. And if you fancy staying over for either business or pleasure, the Alvanley Arms has six beautifully appointed en-suite bedrooms.
