Ambrosinis is quite literally a hidden little gem, situated in a quiet part of town just off the sea front at Blackpool's Squires Gate, the southern terminus for the tram line. This tiny Italian trattoria seats just 20 and is nearly always full - so you do need to book in advance (by phone). It's open from 5pm to 10pm, Tuesday to Saturday and there are two sittings, from 5pm or 6pm until 8pm and then from 8pm til late. The décor is very much rustic bistro style, cosy and intimate with the focus on the food. Chef-patron Ambrosini runs the kitchen with partner Peppe running the front-of-house. The main menu offers a range of classic Italian dishes - try the very popular Tortellini Pollo & Pesto. There's also a chalkboard with special steak and fish dishes and a range of pizzas made to a traditional Neapolitan recipe. The wine list is compact but great value, with a selection of classic Italian wines at very keen prices. Ambrosinis also have a takeaway service, collection only, with prices 10%-20% below the main menu prices.
