Visited ancora about 30 times in the last few years and ave not been able to fault it in any way. Food great staff brilliant it's that good we are going in again tonight for my mates birthday with our wives 4/8/2014.
Never Again
Myself and the family went here for a birthday celebration. The last time we went was average but we gave it a go anyway. NEVER AGAIN. The food wasn't bad (apart from one dish that we sent back for not being cooked) but it was the bill. My partner checked the bill at the end and we were overcharged nearly 23 pound for drinks we didn't have. Now it wasn't busy and 2 people took our drink orders and wrote it down, so it was clear to us that they were trying it on. All confidence lost. When we mentioned it they simply said 'tell us what you didn't have'. Bill sorted but it was all too easy. Never again

My husband and i visited the Ancora a few years ago and were quite impressed,we are renewing our wedding vows for 25years married on the 10th December and have booked for in total 15 people and lunch time,we really hope we wont be disappointed this time !!!!

Last year we started coming here about once or twice a month, sometimes sitting for an hour or so at the outside tables soaking up the sun, before moving inside for an early evening meal. Although we had heard reports that on occasion certain members of staff could be quite cool and off hand depending on what mood they may be in. We on the other hand had began to feel quite comfortable here. However on our last visit we got to experience first hand such rudeness and the comfortable atmosphere disappeared in an instant! I have no idea as to why we almost had our bread thrown at us or why we treated with such disdain but I do know one thing, we will NOT return. The food (duck) was atrocious, so dry it couldn't be eaten. RUDE, BAD MANNERED and OBNOXIOUS comes to mind.

went here for a family meal. i wasn't that happy with my steak as it went back twice and on the third go they got it perfect (rare). problem was everyone had finished so i had a family meal on my own. i was told by other family friends who had been before about the bad delivery and the food quality but we gave it ago. over all 6 out of 10.

I have visited the ancora on several occasions and have never been disappointed, from family meals to just the 2 of us! The steak was cooked to perfection and the ribs are to die for, if you want a local restaurant with a lively atmosphere and fantastic food look no further than the ancora!

WOW ! This was such a fantastic visit to - ANCORA -
As soon as we walked through the main entrance you could feel the buzz on this bar/restaurant & the marvellous aroma wafting down from the restaurant above was just so inviting.
We were just so spoilt for choices on this menu - an incredible array of starters/pasta & pizza/mains/deserts and also daily specials.
We had drinks in the bar first then we were taken upto the 1st floor to dine, we were really looked after by efficient staff at every level of our meal, there were all so attentive and jolly in their duties, and it was nice to see that some of the staff members were Italians.
It was so refreshing to eat authentic fresh Italian food served in a brilliant atmosphere in Oldham !
I have been to the Manchester - San Rocco establishment before so I knew that the experience would be great.
When the bill arrived we were even more impressed with the final cost - for this level of service & menu you would expect to pay a lot more, even double the amount that we paid.
We found out that " ANCORA" in Italian means more - we will certainly be having more of this yummy restaurant.
