Wonderful lunch yesterday at the Angel at Hetton. Thoroughly recommend it.

Meal in the restaurant Saturday evening. Did not realise that it was the set menu only for £38 each. Absolutely lovely and would highly recommend.. The staff were friendly and helpful. Will visit again but for the brasserie and save the restaurant for special occasions.

Been recently after great meals in the past, and am afraid was v dissatisfied: lunch of fish (tiny tail ends), a dessert spoon -sized portion of spinach and 'new potatoes' - which were obviously reheated, fried and served up. Please do not cut corners, serve these unsatisfying smaller portions, or advertise wrongly in the menu. What has happened to the delicious 'flavoured' butter at the start of the meal? Standards seem to be slipping and it is tempting to pass the word around!

Lovely pub in a superb location. We went for a Sunday lunch but along with everyone else we were kept waiting outside until 12 noon,(opening time) not a minute earlier in the cold (October weather). The front door was left open and we were seated directly in line of the draught. Our starters and main courses were excellent but although we asked for a dessert menu, it never came so we left.
Staff not friendly but the food was memorable for the right reasons.

I've eaten here a few times but the one thing i always look forward to is the annual Seafood Festival - fantastic!!

i have eaten at the angel twice, both times the food was exceptional!
the pub/restaurant is quite small so prebooking is really essentail however you can squeeze into the bar area for food of the same standard. wine and beer selection is excellent and the added advantage of rooms in the oub are recommended as it is off the beaten track.
i heartly recommend beating the track to the door, enjoy and nip over the road to the wine shop before you leave.
