I had a bog standard take-away meal from here recently. It was not pleasant - reminiscent of 30 years ago, when vats of watery hot/ medium/ or mild "curry sauce" were sloshed on to chunks of meat. The onion bhajis were horribly stale, the shish kebab rubbery and tasteless. Balti Empire may have upgraded its interior and service, but the food should be king.
No attention to detail, sloppy bland and boring food - if people go back for more it simply keeps standards low. I would recommend Spice Quarter or Punitha's Southern Indian restaurant a few yards up Albany Road - more expensive but good, home-cooked quality food made with at least some care.

This is the best restaurant I ever been to whilst living in Cardiff. Everything about this restaurant was fantastic especially the service because there was one young waiter who was really friendly, he looked like he had something to do with the business. Gotta be best restaurant easily. The restaurant is the first Indian restaurant in South Wales to receive the investor in people award, that was for their quality of food and service. I would recommend this restaurant for anyone who’s looking to dine in a modern contemporary cuisine.
