What a disappointment this establishment is. On the occasions I've been, I have rarely come out happy and satisfied.
The waiter seems to take no notice of you're needs being met and I found him to be rude. When I asked for the bill in the 'almost empty' restaurant, He asked me to go and pay at the bar... excuse me for asking?
The ambiance is dark and dingy with a television blaring out in the background.
I have a discount card, which when I showed it to him, He failed to deduct the 20% and argued with me that he had..?
Now on to the food.
Popodoms were stale as were the tray of sauces.. mango chuckney, watered down.. unpleasant indeed and left.
Main meal- Meat based dish ( dhansak) extremely tough and chewy and so I left the meat.. The vegetables tasted off in fact it all tasted off to me. The veg seems to come out of a 'frozen' packet..
Rice- There was little of it and it was over-cooked.
Nan bread- keema nan- minced meat tasted off..
Drinks- dirty glass accompanied by dust.
By then, I really did not desire a desert.
The service in the balti king is sub- standard. I don't see it full of people nor is it a good ambience..
My over all experience is one of total dissapointment and I came away, knowing that when I come to totnes again, I will be most definately not be going there again.. 'The cafe India' at the top of Town however, is most excellent and I recommend a visit.. 10 out of 10 to that establishment, most certainly.
I forgot to mention that i had the runs after eating at the balti.. This balti house needs an inspection asap.
