After reading the write up about the restaurant and the chef/owner's experience in Italy, we were dying to try the restaurant! Lovely location on the river, it seemed perfect for Sunday lunch.
We couldn't have been more disappointed! How could such a restaurant offer crab sticks as part of its prawn and crab cocktail starter?? How could they serve roast beef swimming in gravy which was identical to the gravy served with the tough pork??? The potatoes were inedible and had probably been standing in water long before they were cooked.
All in all very surprisingly disappointing

My gf and I went there on a Sat night and it was our first time in Bath. The ambiance was just right for an intimate couple even though there were small groups about. The setting is homely rather then plush but the lighting made it more intimate. The food is awesome! We had just one starter (gf doesn't eat alot!) but the main course of Pork belly and duck were deeelicious! Overall we would definitely go back there again and for lunch as we should then be able to see the wonderful view of the river. Total cost including a bottle of wine and 1x dessert was £44.

Bathwick Boatman Restaurant
My family dine here 7 or 8 times a year. The food is always nice and frequently very good. The portions, it must be said, are large and more than ample. The restaurant is run by the owners Phil and Karen Chant and consequently has a warm and friendly ambiance. Sunday lunches are excellent and very busy, so reserving a table for lunch is imperative. There is a nice veranda, which over looks the River Avon, and it is possible to dine on the veranda during the summer and autumn.
