The Bearslake Inn is just perfect! Atmosphere relaxed & friendly but at the same time with a touch of class.
The food is excellent: the chef does justice to all the local produce used. Very good customer care: you feel welcome & special the whole time you are there.
We dined there on several occasions & the standards were always high.

We have been visiting Tavistock for more than 20 years and ate here many years ago but wasn't impressed then. My father heard that new owners had turned the place around and we decided to give it another go. We weren't disappointed! Wonderful olde world atmosphere, warm as toast inside, polite staff (with a sense of humour) and superb food. Our steaks were like cushions! Lovely to have touches such as real linen napkins, crackers as it was near to Christmas and red wine glasses you could fit a whole bottle in! We'll definitely return - Thank you.

we wnt to the Bearslake for a meal and had a wonderful evening, All the staff were very helpful, very nice and couldnt have been friendlier. As ex publicans ourselves we are probably more critical than most, but I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this establishment to anyone.
Bearslake Inn
Three of us just spent the weekend at the Bearslake, and came away feeling sad we were going back to the real world. The place is full of old world charm, comfort, good food, ale & wine. All served up by a family that have been obviously born with the 'friendly' gene!
Evening meals were plentiful and tasty and everything freshly cooked - the menu appears to change daily depending on what is available. Breakfast is delicious with proper fried bread (not the greasy deep fried stuff you quite often get).
The rooms where very cosy and comfortable and we really felt welcome.
The owners always found time to chat with a smile and couldn't do enough for us.
Defintely want to go back!
Bearslake Inn
We had a wonderful Sunday lunch in Bearslake Inn two weeks ago and stayed in a really beautiful old room. The service and ambience were second to none. Our bed was the most comfortable I have slept in for years and a great nights sleep followed by one of the best freshly cooked breakfasts we have ever had ended a really enjoyable stay. Well worth every minute of a 4/5 hour drive from London - we will definately go back!
Bearslake Inn
The Bearslake Inn is an olde worlde pub the like of which you do not come upon often. The rooms are individually furnished to match the age of the Inn. I stayed here at the end of September once the summer rush had finished. The food was still excellent. Breakfast was a full hearty english if you wished - in my case I ordered boiled eggs along with cereal orange juice and as much tea coffee and toast as I could eat. The dinner was of even higher quality,. I ate there twice during my stay and both times could not find anything to complain about - I chose the mushrooms as a starter and the barbary duck for my first meal completed by the crepes - delicious!! The second time I had the maize fed chicken which was as nice although i did not have a desert as a birthday cake arrived for me in the nick of time!!
The pub is a family run business by people who cannot do enough for you and I would highly recommend it for either lunch (if you are hungry after the huge breakfast) or your evening dinner.
