Visited here twice recently, once just before xmas and on 5th Feb 2010. Although both times the food when it arrived was quite good we found the staff a bit distant and distracted. Both times there was a long wait between starters and our mains arriving and we had to ask each time when our mains were going to be served. All in all not bad but in our experience be prepared for a long wait between courses.

This must be the worst restaurant in Liverpool. I have eaten here on a couple of occasions over the years it has been open. I visited there on Monday 11th January 2010 as part of the celebrations for my sons 30th birthday. The service was the poorest I have experienced after an hour and 20 mins we still hadn't had our main course and left paying for the starters and drinks. We received no apology for the poor service. the restaurant had about 9 other customers in so far from busy. The two chefs were busy having a wonderful chat in the kitchen hardly seemed to notice us leave. The staff didnt even question our cancelled order. the lost somewhere in the region of £100 business on a monday night I am sad they can afford to..... I suppose I should just say as well that the place was disgustingly dirty with staff stepping over broken glass, reams of tissue papers and white spilt fluid on the floor behind and to the side of the bar. There are lots of wonderful restaurants in Liverpool give this one a miss...........

I was disgusted with this place and the level of service and food, as me and my Fiancee waited over 20 mins for the "Starter" (Garlic Bread) and the top piece of the bottle where they keep their candles on the table, broke off due to excessive heat and not checked at random intervals for health and safety. As a result, my fingers were burnt and I had to sit throughout the whole meal afterwards with my hand in a pint glass full of ice. The waiter was not arsed from the looks of it, as no further assistance was given or a proper apology said to me. The food was crap (spaghetti carbonara), as it was bland and tasted like it was a microwaved. Plus it was warm and appeared it was left aside, due to the layer of skin from the sauce. In addition, my Fiancee's pizza (pepperoni) had Jalapenos on it, which she didn't ask for, nor was advised of this when ordering. When asked to see a manager, that took nearly 15 mins and we was only offered a discount on the final bill (no charge for the starter). I definitely wont be going back here or recommending this to anyone else and it ruined my self and fiancee's first experience in this restaurant. Score 0/100%

1st impression brocken glass on the floor
2nd Very pour menu
3rd All the staff had absolutely no idea what the were doing except the bold fella , ( nice one mate!!!)
4rth our waiter seemed to be having a good time on SPEED his mouth is faster than his brain
5th we got our drinks 10 sec before we got our starters
6th I had a better steak in Afghanistan and a hobo could make a better carbonara
7th I like the Polish shefs but in Polish restaurants not in Italian
What i'm saying is you need to hire some profetionals
the place at the moment is i high risk worst than mc donalds

In general, Bella Italia seems a perfectly good chain restaurant. But, having recently had a meal at the Liverpool branch, I find myself asking whether they wish to be Italian to the core, or just another faux Italian. From a sampling from the menu, it finds itself in the faux camp. One of the starter dishes includes bruschetta alongside buffalo wings, and of course there are the seemingly indispensable 'fries' with half the menu.
On the other hand the decor and atmosphere lends itself to a more Italian style. The low lighting, candles in chianti bottles and the shouts of graci and ciao in the background all lend itself to a pleasant setting. Unfortunately this is let down with most of the waiting staff having broad local accents, making communication difficult.
There is little wrong in Britain with faux Italian restaurants, shown by the success of Pizza Express and ASK. Neither is there anything wrong with a franchised business of traditional Italian restaurants. But Bella Italia finds itself in a strange hiatus in the middle, resulting in mixed feelings for the diner.

Everyone i mention this place to looks at me and thinks oh no!!! but me and my girlfriend went there for a romantic meal and it was really lovely, wine was good, food was good, everything was good!! It is quite open planned (no booths) and it is on a corner where EVERYONE looks in at you eating but hey you can see that when you walk in! Its a very nice place I will go there again!! Just thought i would boost this restaurants ratings since it totally deserves it!!
Bella Italia
I enjoyed a meal here with my husband on a night out in Liverpool. We went on a Saturday night and didn? have to make a reservation. We were served promptly and the food was delicious. The chicken was tender and the portions were generous. The staff were very helpful, as we had never been to Liverpool before and they told us all of the best places to go on a night out. All round good experience
Bella Italia
I went to Bella Pasta for my Birthday with my husband. We were sat next to a hen night. That was the last of our quiet night out! The service was quite slow. Waiting 20 minutes + for the meal of pasta and pizza. The food portions were small compared to other places in the city, such as Pizza Express. I was not impressed by the pasta dish that my husband had ordered. It was basically pasta with a tomato sauce and very bland. My pizza was very nice. It was a thin base. The topping amount was average. I really enjoyed the flavours in the pizza. Next I had ice cream with a brownie in. I was impressed by the amount of ice cream-only to realise that the brownie was tiny. I would describe this as average. I enjoyed the night out. However the staff seemed busy with the hen night girls, and the noise in the place was high. The restaurant is in a great place in Liverpool. I find it hard to recommend the restaurant. This is just not the place for me, and I've eaten in much better Italian restaurants. However I'm sure if you like this kind of thing you will have a great night out.
