Had a groupon voucher and thought would treat my friend. Very limited menu but extra limited for vegetarians like me. Arrived and was told 3 dishes off the very already limited menu. Wine was included in offer but was ever so cheap and nasty. Had to order lemonade to make it taste better. Service terrible had to get up and scout about and eventually shout behind bar for service as waited so long. Soup was like dish water, seemed like had run out so watered it down as not to disappoint cos already said 3 meals off menu. When main course came just mediocre, nothing to write home about , I did email to express my disappointment and give feedback but it was ignored and then I rang and spoke to male member of staff but after he asked me to tell him about our experience he again completely ignored my comments. As i told him there is so much competition out here today with wonderful food and service available Beluga definitely needed to up its game and it is somewhere I will never visit again. Try Croma or Pesto instead much better class, standard, customer service and quality food!

Unfortunately this bar has been loosing its charm for a while now. Charging £4 for a lager seems a bit excessive, even in this part of town and I would not necessarily mind it, if it was served with top notch service. Unfortunately it does not live up to its premier branded name. Went for food there this weekend and was equally unimpressed, from the deputy manager who got our reservation wrong, to the bland food (Thai stir fry) to the amount of (fruit-) flies hovering over our table as well as on the ceiling and kitchen service station. After highlighting this with the deputy manager, she sort of shrugged and made us feel like it was the very 1st time there was ever a fly in the restaurant and we received a "thank you for raising your concern, I will pass it on to the restaurant manager who is not in tonight" response from her. Place needs a very good scrub, both internally as well as customer service wise.

I've been to the pub upstairs and it's generally ok, service can be slow but the setting is nice. With this in mind me and a mate decided to go downstairs to check out the restaurant. There were several empty tables yet it took at least 5 minutes for the hostess to greet us and take us to our seats. It took another 10 minutes of waiting just to get our first drinks order. Had this restaurant been busy it I would have overlooked this but the restaurant was empty and service was slow because there weren't nearly enough servers on duty for the number to tables (think 10 tables to 1 server). Then after we had ordered our drinks we were informed that they had run out of wine. Seriously a restaurant that runs out of wine? Fair enough they went upstairs to check but there was nothing! Crazy. Instead we ordered cocktails and then our food. We complained and the staff were apologetic but then we declined to have it re-heated as a) we weren't sure how long it would take and b) they forgot to bring us our cocktails so we took this as another sign that we should just go. Again this took a very long time. 2 tables that were seated after us were served their food order so by the time our food arrived it was lukewarm. I think this place was a fab place for dinner several years back but this will be my first and last visit to the restaurant. Awful food and awful service. A real shame.

Went to Beluga yesterday, with my partner, baby son and stepdaughters, and received quite simply the most disgusting service I have ever had. We telephoned and booked a table thinking it would be busy on a Sunday when Manchester was very busy with the Christmas markets. We were told that there would only be the Christmas menu available. On arrival at 1.30pm, the restaurant/bar was almost empty (not a good sign). We were then told that only the general menu was available and that we had been misinformed as the Christmas menu has to be booked at least a week in advance and with a £10 deposit. We were later told that the Christmas menu had been available all along and we could have ate from this. Our major problem was the service we received from the waitress who had clearly got the wrong idea regarding the menu (slim, young European lady with blonde hair - German? Dutch? Scandinavian? I'm not sure). As well as the initial confusion, she completely forgot about a drinks order which we had to place again with a more friendly, helpful waitress later after a 15 minute wait and then did not bring us the dessert/coffee menu which we were told would be a minute. We decided enough was enough and asked for the bill. Overall, the food was very bland, boring and rather poor. Cheap tasting sauces and gravy. Attempted nouveau cuisine-style but way off the mark! Now for the really bad bit.... on exit, we decided we had to say something to the manager. My partner therefore told him that we were unhappy with the service and explained why. While he listened attentively, the waitress in question came over and interjected asking 'what's wrong?' and trying to defend herself. She said that we should have realised that there had been only two serving the whole restaurant. Believe me, when we entered the place, there were only two other tables occupied (maybe we have slightly differing ideas about work ethic!). Then she made out that we were out of order for complaining saying (and I believe lying) that other customers had complained about our baby son who had been crying for a short amount of time because (naturally...as babies do!) he was tired and has not been too well recently. She said "we had complaints about your baby crying and being noisy but we didn't come and complain to you did we?!" Shock horror! That was enough for us. Not only was the service deplorable but we were now being insulted and having our baby son insulted in the process by a defensive, pathetic liar who must be up for the nomination of 'worst waitress of the year award'! In their defense, the manager to whom we complained seemed to handle the matter well and told he was "biting his tongue" and would "discipline her" after we left. All in all, this has to be the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant in my life... bar none. Want my advice? Read the above again and make your own mind up!

We recently visited Beluga and unfortunately happened to pick a swingers night! Although the people there were very "friendly" we were slightly put off by the amount of unusual looks we got when we stated we were not really interested in putting our car keys in the bowl. After lots of looks we decided to leave before the visual looks became physical advances, although at this point we must state that the bar staff were very accommodating to our needs. I am sure that if it wasn't a swingers night the place and drinks would have been more than enjoyable and it would not put me off in the future.

We went for a meal here last night - the awful taste is still lingering. It was the most dreadful meal I have had for a long time. Billed as a high end restaurant this restaurant offers only microwaved and frozen choices. Kerry Katona eat your heart out.

With the exception of the vegetarian option (risotto) the food was really very good. The lamb with potato and Christmas vegetables was delicious. It was such a shame the portions of vegetables were sooo small. Small portions may be ‘trendy’ but some of the courses for Christmas lunch were just mean. You needed a magnifying glass to spot the Christmas pudding… The waiters/waitresses were very friendly and helpful, but there should have been a few more considering how busy it was, they were run off their feet. Considering it was Christmas they hadn’t dressed the table with festive decorations and they’d tried to squeeze too many onto the table so it was abit cramped. Wouldn’t book a large party in again for Christmas lunch, but would go back during the year, just like abit more food please.

Expectations were high for my visit to Beluga. I had read fantastic reviews on the internet and the menu and photos looked very promising, and in many ways I wasn't disappointed. The decor throughout the bar and restaurant was gorgeous. The food was a triumph too. We had 3 courses and each one was as delicious as the next. Unfortunately we didn? receive the best service. It seemed our poor waiter was run ragged and had too many table to attend to at once. However this was made up for when we finally received the bill as it was expected to be far higher. All in all it was a positive experience and I would recommend it to anyone wanting high quality food in a fantastic town centre atmosphere, for very modest prices.
