First visit here as we were in Liverpool for an event at the Metropolitan Cathedral. Absolutely superb 3 course lunch with lots of choice - real value for money and impeccable service. the decor is quirky and creates a great atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Been going to Bistro Jacques for over 2 years now. We usually go on a Tuesday evening to make use of the special offer. On almost every occasion everything is perfect, from service, to food, to bill. However, even when we do encounter a problem, which is extremely RARE -m hey, no one is perfect -ok then, the fatty steak I had a few weeks ago - the staff are unfazed and extremely polite, doing everything possible to make things right without making us feel embarrassed . We recommended this place to our neighbours and they are now hooked and told us they go even more than us. They introduced their relatives and they too have now recommended their friends! We should have asked Bistro Jacques for discount for recommendations. But then we are rewarded on every visit anyway just because of the quality and atmosphere of the place,.

Came upon the restaurant by chance as we went to visit the Philharmonic pub (In my husbands Camra guide). We were in Liverpool to 'do' the Beatles tour etc.
It was a Tuesday so we booked for the evenings wine and dine, two courses and a bottle of wine each.
We were very impressed with the service and the food was to die for.
We went back for lunch on the Wednesday yet another 'historic' meal (Michael Winner needs to try it out ! )
Will definitely come again and recommend to all.

I visited Bistro Jacques last night for an impromptu meal with my friend whom I'd not seen for awhile. I only booked the table approx an hour before and considering they had their Tues Wine and Dine offer on, i was surprised and pleased that they could fit me in with such short notice.
We were seen to immediately with a waitress getting us some water for the table, she brought some bread &butter and left us to peruse the menu.
We chose the 2courses plus a bottle of house red each - we both opted for the fresh asparagus to start which was beautiful accompanied by parma ham and a small salad. My friend choose the fillet of beef whilst i had the duck for main. They were served with seasonal vegetables including dauphinois potatoes, which were gorgeous. The house red was certainly a good match to our mains.
Since we still had another bottle to consume, we both opted for a dessert - despite initially saying we were too full but after looking at all the desserts on offer - we simply couldn't refuse but it was a tough decision deciding. I settled on chocolate profiteroles and my friend had the chocolate&banana crepe, both plates were empty in under 10mins - a sure sign of a delicious dessert.
The waiting on service was excellent, there when you needed them and knowledgeable on the food they were serving. The price was reasonable and i know that i'll definitely return...if only to sample all the desserts on the chalkboard!
Never Again !
Having eaten at Bistro Jacques before we were quite looking forward to a pre pub quiz meal, however our whole party left extremely deflated after the experience. Myself and one college ordered the chicken stuffed with black pudding which turned up barely cooked. I chanced mine and ate it ,by my college left the whole dish and complained at the end of the meal, only to be told by the waitress there was nothing wrong with it despite the fact it was bright pink - no apology was received !
The starters were minuscule, another colleague had to eat a whole seabass without a fish knife and the final member of our party was also disappointed with the size of the steak. These meals were ordered off the main menu at full price so there was no excuse for the small sized portions. We all agreed after the meal that we would give Bistro Jacques a wide berth after this experience.

Went there with my daughter after she had been to her university for next year. I thought it would a nice treat we had the set lunch which was very nice. The staff were attentive but not intrusive would go again. I might try it in the evening with my husband.

Four of us visited Bistro Jacques before a trip to the theatre. The staff were friendly and attentive, and knowledgeable about the food. The food was delicious, nice wholesome flavours all very well cooked. The service was excellent and we didn't have to wait for anything, especially good since there was a very large group of people who arrived shortly after us.
I would definitely recommend this place.

Ended up at Jacques on day trip to Liverpool. Could not fault the food/staff nor the price.
Would recommend to anyone.
