This excellent little jewel in West Cumbria's crown is a beautiful small restaurant. The menu changes every month to keep up with seasonal, locally sourced produce. The very friendly atmosphere backed up with excellent fare cooked to perfection by a chef who displays his love and skill in the dishes. My Wife, a gourmet chef, and I have been back several times to this lovely, cosy restaurant and will continue to support them. I strongly recommend this restaurant to any food lovers!!

Writing as a "Foodie" - My Wife, A Gourmet Chef. The food is fantastic, the service is excellent, the staff very good & friendly! Having eaten in many top-class restaurants we must report that this small, cosy restaurant is up there with the best! The Head Chef - Steve - came out to chat and this modest man turned out excellent, top class food, consistently! We thoroughly enjoyed our fifth visit and will definitely return!! Most certainly well recommended!!!

My wife and I took our Mothers for a mothers day treat. We were made very very welcome by the friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us. We were treated to some of the best food I have had in ages and all backed up by excellent service. The days was very special, the food excellent and the staff are wonderful very very recommended.

Excellent Food & Excellent Service at a decent price (£8-£15 for a main course, £4-£6 for a starter). I had hare pate to start, which was lovely and a generous portion followed by medallions of ostrich cooked wonderfully with a red wine source. Well recommended, probably the best place to eat in the Whitehaven / Workington area.

Top quality food and service. Agree wholeheartedly with previous recommendation.

This place is a revelation. Situated in an unpretentious location on the main road through Bigrigg and looking a little rustic, nothing prepares you for the quality of the food here. This has got to be one of the best restaurants in Cumbria. It? a small, intimate place, very welcoming and evidently very popular with the locals. Everything on the menu is freshly made from scratch and the bulk of the ingredients are locally sourced. The menu is heavily influenced by local produce with a lot of game and fish. I couldn? believe the amount of effort that must have gone into the menu for such a small restaurant but then the head chef did train at the Connaught. We started with the langoustines and scallops which were very fresh and cooked to perfection. For mains we had the venison and the halibut both of which were superb and cooked perfectly. To finish off we had crème brulee and the traditional South African Malva pudding (an absolute must-have for anyone who? not tried it) both of which were excellent. The wine was very reasonably priced and the service was very friendly and efficient. The only criticism I have is that they don? accept credit or debit cards which I found rather odd in this day and age. All in all a fantastic night out. Highly recommended.
