A most enjoyable lunch for six of us, including our two year old grandson who was celebrating his birthday. Food and service fantastic! We will definitely be back, even though we live west of Carlisle !

we had a wonderful evening at this restaurant and couldn't decide which was nicer the food the surroundings or the service as they were all so good. a restaurant we will visit again and again even though we live in Durham and have to travel to get there unbelievably good

Unfortunately, our last visit to Bouchon was rather a disappointment. We had asked for a table upstairs but were told on arrival that this wasn't possible. However, other diners arrived and were ushered up there. We put this aside to concentrate on the food; a starter of scallops was tasty but far too small and the French onion soup was lacking in depth and richness. I went for the roasted bream which was pleasant but unspectacular, my partner's lamb tagine was also deemed 'bland'. Even our favourite pud, the clafoutis was overcooked and rubbery. I only hope this was a one-off dud evening because all our previous visits have been very enjoyable. The service was as it always has been; efficient and charming.

We dropped in here for lunch on our way through Hexham and, having heard nothing about the restaurant before, were very impressed indeed. I had duck confit salad to start which was simple, light and delicious. This was followed by ham hock and toulouse sausage with lentils, which was lighter than it sounds and very tasty indeed. We had no time for dessert unfortunately but would definitely go back. The service was friendly and prompt too.

we have been regular at Bouchon in Hexham since it opened last year, and we've enjoyed it every times.
I recommend it to anyone who enjoys food.
Keep on the hard work! And well done for your entry in the Good Food Guide.

Eating at Bouchon is a wonderful experience. The food is excellent, the service is good and the surroundings are great. I have eaten there on several occasions and the meals have always been of a very high standard. The owner is always welcoming.
Highly recommended.

We went to bouchon last week, coming all the way from Newcastle by train, and what an experience! from the arrival all the way to the goodbye, a fantastic experience. So good that we have booked again for their Christmas menu. We had the Crispy Mussel Galette, a sort of pancake with fresh mussels, leeks & carrots inside, and to follow we had the Calves Liver, which has a lovely shallot & nut crust on top. My girlfriend had the Onion Soup, totally authentic, and then the monkfish cooked in red wine. She was too full to have a dessert, but not full enough to share my chocolate profiteroles! A beautiful bottle of French wine recommended by the helpful & professional staff, all that for a very reasonable price. Perfect 3 f's:French, Friendly & Fun!

Thoroughly enjoyed a meal here in February. We were warmly welcomed by a pleasant Frenchman whom we instantly recognised as one of the former owners of The Black Door Restaurant in Newcastle-where we had a fantastic eating experience a couple of years ago. Based on this we expected a high quality meal which we most certainly got along with an exceptional level of service from the waiting staff. If you want an outstanding meal from an impressive menu but at a sensible price then Bouchon is without doubt the place to go.
