Had a great lunch in the lovely beer garden of this pub. Good large portions, my chicken and ham suet was spot on. Good Deuchars Ale too. Will return.

Many local people consider this pub to be the place to go for good grub but on my last couple of visits the food and service have not been up to scratch and the prices are on the high side for what you get.
Large portions yes but quality?.....mmmh??

The Brown Cow is a wonderful pub with a great selection of real ales, but it also does really good pub food, with large portions and the chips are some of the best I've had. Unless you are extremely hungry, the smaller portions of the cheaper versions are easily enough, and I do recommend their pies.

I was really disappointed at what had been a highly recommended restaurant in the Barrow area. The food was mostly fine, nothing special though and unfortunately the chips were not cooked thoroughly. I would have complained to the staff except for the fact they made themselves incredibly scarce and only showed up ten minutes after we had finished. We were left to sit for fifteen minutes with the menu before we could order with no drinks despite the place being practically empty. You can see that this palce has potential and I am sure it is fine when it is on form, but for me I'd rather visit the Stagger Inn or the Copper Dog if I want to go to a cute country pub in the area.

The Brown Cow is a lovely Restaurant/Pub to visit. When the weather is good the beer garden is fab to sit in and chill with family or friends. The meals are very filling we always receive plenty. I would recommend this establishment to everyone.
