This restaurant is fab!!! Some friends and i recently visited Cafe Porto for the evening tapas menu. The food was freshly cooked and delicious. It is very reasonably priced too and we took our own wine. There aren't many places where you can get a mountain of delicious food and wine in lovely surroundings for less than £20 a head! Although it is BYO, they do have Portuguese wines on the wine list, which are priced between £15-25 ish. We opted to take our own Portuguese wine and the guy that runs it brought a taster glass of their house wine to see how the wines contrasted and told us a little bit about the different wine growing areas of Portugal. The people who worked there were really friendly and made us feel very welcome. I really recommend Cafe Porto - its a hidden gem!

I recently organised a staff meal out and took a gamble on going somewhere I'd never been, and in this case it definitely paid off. The atmosphere was lovely, the staff friendly and the food was absolutely delicious. The tapas was fresh and full of flavour, and the generous helpings of home made desserts were some of the best desserts I've tasted. And all of this for under £20 including corkage. I would highly recommend this to anyone, and all of the staff are keen to return.

We ate at Cafe Porto twice, once for the tapas and again for the evening menu. The food is fantastic and very authentic. The restaurant is quite cozy, staff are friendly and the prices are very reasonable. The option to bring your own wine is great as you get to take along your own favourites. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and will be dining there again very soon!

7th Feb 2009-evening menu. Fab. Lovely atmosphere, authentic Portuguese tapas. Great to be able to take own wine, keeps the food bill down, not that the prices here require it!! Staff lovely and attentive and food obviously freshly cooked. The carrot cake is to die for!! Can't wait to try the day time cafe cuisine.

We recently spent an evening at Cafe Porto and really enjoyed ourselves.
Tucked away in a side street it is a bit off the beaten track but still close enough to the city centre to walk to and well worth finding. The food was fantastic, all home cooked and very tasty. Rather than ordering a meal from the blackboard we chose tapas, which is a great way to sample different portugese dishes. We were able to bring our own wine for a small corkage fee.
The staff and owner Pedro are very friendly and the atmosphere was great.
I can fully recommend it and we have already been back.

Just returned from this great restaurant, where we've eaten before. Yet again, an excellent freshly prepared meal. We had a bowl of olives to start, which were very fresh and made with garlic and onion. For our main course we had 6 tapas between 2 of us. They were made in the kitchen next to the dining area, so we could see and hear them being freshly prepared. I especially enjoyed the sardines, which were whole and served simply with salad. Pedro, the owner, is very friendly and genuinely aims to please. Highly recommended.
