Had a lovely meal with my boyfriend recently. Am a veggie and get sick of the usual "veggie lasagne or veggie bake" so was refreshing to have a tasty dish of filo pastry with creamy filling, mushrooms and other yummys, served with baby pots. Was very good, oh and really nice wine too.

I love cafe rouge Plymouth, always welcomed - staff chatty, informative but never intrusive, loos ok (girls understand this!) food always very good. Desserts are heavenly, would recommend trying here, possible pricey, but you get what you pay for
Cafe Rouge
I love Cafe Rouge-the food is delicious, the portions are not so big that you cannot fit in dessert and a boozy coffee without sacrificing your starter (a tragedy!), and the atmosphere is relaxed and informal. There are a nice variety of wines to choose from, and I have never ordered a bottle I have not thoroughly enjoyed.
The Cafe Rouge in Exeter has a better ambience as the decor is a little nicer, and there are lots of secluded tables if you want a little privacy. However, the service in Plymouth is far superior-the food is served faster without compromising on quality, and the staff are really polite and helpful (especially the waiter with the red hair!). Once, when our first course was a little bit slow in coming we were given some yummy bread sticks covered in garlic butter to keep us going! My favourite dishes on the menu are crab cakes (starter)and cassolet (main course).
