The two-storey, black and white, half-timbered buildings that form The Rows combine medieval, Georgian and Victorian architecture in unique shopping galleries that are synonymous with Chester. Carbonara, a new Italian restaurant with a Roman influence, opened here on Bridge Street Row East on the site what was Mad Hatters Tearooms in the summer of 2021. The building was built originally as a rectory in the time of Cromwell and today has upstairs and downstairs seating as well as a couple of outside gallery tables overlooking the action on Bridge Street. Carbonara is Rome’s quintessential pasta dish and of course you’ll find it here on the menu alongside plenty of other Roman specialities and fish and seafood dishes. Open tight through from 12 noon until late.
