We had a wonderful day at Castle Barton on the occasion of our Golden Wedding anniversary on May 25th. Lunch was delicious. Excellent service. A lovely oasis to relax over a meal anytime. Pretty garden. Thank you Castle Barton for making the day special. Sue

We have been frequenting this establishment since the 1970's when the family moved in and we have to say that it is indeed a wonderful and most friendly restaurant place. The food is excellent and we recommended it. Mike and Maureen.

What a lovely surprise. Went there for Sunday lunch with a relative from Paignton who has not been there previously. The owners/hosts were so pleasant and lovely. The food really was excellent. To live so closeby and although we had previously heard good comments but not to have visited we should be feeling very guilty. See you again soon with a bunch of our friends and I will give them a surprise not to be forgotten. Thank you

Great place - lovely views and lots of character - formerly part of Compton Castle Estate, home of the Gilbert family with connections to Francis Drake and voyages of discovery in Elizabethan era. Now a Restaurant and Tea Rooms, famous for Sunday Lunch at any time and Cream Teas in the Summer. Also does excellent Evening Meals at the weekend. I have been going there for many years - same owners for almost 30 years. Doesn't advertise and is a little hidden gem well worth finding and visiting. Everyone I have recommended has been well pleased. Also does outside catering and functions including wedding receptions

My favourite place in the world almost - well certainly for Sunday Lunch - I have never been disappointed, nor have those I have taken there. Featured in films, this lovely Georgian house is on the way from Marldon to Ipplepen about three miles inland from the sea and a mile or so off the Torbay Ring Road. The owners are very welcoming, the food excellent home cooking and the value is superb. Also great for evenings when open with a drink on the terrace overlooking the romantic setting of Compton Castle first. They also do scrumptious cream teas I'm told but have never had one.
