I had crispy fish with mango salad made with Cornish Pollack, with Feather Drop Hill white wine followed by Beef Rendang with Cornish beef. Accompanied by Santa Rita Merlot. It was a lovely tasty meal and I went away thinking how peaceful food is from this part of Asia and will definitely go again.

I live overseas and have travelled all over Europe and Chantek is the best Asian restaurant I have found so far!
I have never seen such a range of dishes on a menu. The fish wrapped in banana leaf was fantastic, spices, ginger, and vegetables inside, complex tastes that worked together well, the fish perfectly cooked and tasted good, flavour from the leaf, aromatic, not too dry, a quite rare perfect dish.
Sizzling seafood had many ingredients, the best things from the whole sea, but still fresh, with a delicious peppery sauce Tom yum had authentic Asian spices, especially galangal, very fresh, vegetables still crunchy with flavoursome roots. Crispy fish and mango salad, was a totally new dish for me, perfectly balanced.
Pollack green curry was the best fish curry I ever had, served with aromatic coconut rice and chicken in pandan leaf was tender with aromas of pandan leaf coming through.
ice creams were a pleasant surprise with a tri of oriental ginger, mango sorbet and coconut ice cream.
The new Bonada red wine was a really nice complement to the food and the Chantini a memorable aperitif served with a whole star anise.
The atmosphere was beautiful with the lights and colour combination, not too bright, it felt cosy and warm, quite modern and beautiful, the staff were warm and friendly too.
It was good to see the open kitchen, I ate on both floors , the upper floor was even more cosy.
I would recommend this to everyone

The menu is brilliant and it was really difficult to make a decision. In the end I decided to go for my lucky number 23. It was delicious! You also want to try something with their home made sweet chilli sauce. We ate there three times in four days and didn't get bored. It's official, Chantek is my favourite restaurant. Not only is the food delicious, the interior is very well thought out and service was very good. I'll be back!

The food was fine, but the service was amazingly awful. The waiting staff seemed to be having a great time among themselves, but treated the customers with near-contempt.

I recently visited Chantek with my wife and eighteen-month old son and had a fantastic meal. They found us a quiet corner and made us all feel very much at home. There was a perfect menu for our little one (he LOVED the food and the staff LOVED him!!) and we were spoilt for choice, too. We were both amazed by the spicy Thai papaya salad with lime juice, dried shrimps, chili and green papaya. I also really enjoyed the tom yum soup with prawns. It's the kind of dish that could ward off the nastiest of flu bugs, with its hit of ginger and chillies - clean, hot and fresh flavours. Mains included a sublime Thai curry and a Chili Beef from the specials board made with prime Cornish Beef.
I'd recommend Chantek to anyone heading down to Cornwall (in fact, we've already spread the word as far round our hotel as we could manage!). The food is great, the atmosphere relaxed and friendly and the space is lovely.

food debris on menu, food debris on walls, food debris in waiters hair, chef picking nose in open kitchen, very old/slightly smelly chicken and pork, garnish on all plates was shredded cabbage and carrot - which was so old and dehydrated it must have been a week old. I am baffled and amazed.
Please people, take notice of these details. If their front of house, menus and staff are dirty ... Imagine the inside of the their fridges.
A positive note, was nicely flavoured sauces.

Chantek, took the friends for a lunch, we had the special soup, it was a disappointment the soup looks like a dirty water with a few pasta and mince and extra chilli, the duck in my opinion was frozen and badly cook.
this must be for a cheap people, chantek never again.

Had a great meal at Chantek last night.
Extensive menu was almost to big to make a choice from with so many things I wanted to try.
In the end I had DimSum and Kari Seafood.
Both were excellent. I'm no dim sum expert but it was very tasty. The seafood was fresh the sauce just the right amount of kick. A side of pad pad veggies was just a bit to much but was well cooked. The place was nicely buzzy for a weekday night too. Lived up to its reputation very well.

This is one of our favourite restaurants in Truro. Been waiting for something like this for ages. It is a bit pricey, but well worth it for the quality. Always very clean and staff so friendly. We like the way you see them cooking in front of you- great place highly recommend trying!

I have eaten at Chantek on many occasions, mainly at lunchtime. I would agree that the evening prices are more expensive but I have never had any complaints about the size of portions.
The extra menu available at lunch is a real bargain. You can have a starter and a main course for a set price or a main course with a drink. The main courses include either noodles or rice. You get a generous portion of food for both courses.
Food choices are large and the flavours are authentic. I am lucky enough to live locally so I have even had excellent take aways from Chantek.
