We haven't visited Chilli Banana for some time but my husband wanted a special treat for his birthday and has chosen Chilli Banana even though it is quite a distance to travel. I think that says it all for the food and service - always found it lovely and not too busy if you go early. Just spoilt for choice now between Macclesfield and Wilmslow

We visited the Chilli Banana soon after returning from a holiday in The restaurant was almost fully booked so the service was a little slow but the most disappointing aspect of the visit was the un-authenticity and quality of the food, Our tempura starters were quite heavily battered, more chippy style than the crisp clean texture we'd hoped for, The seafood tempura contained only 2 pieces of seafood and the remainder consisted of vegetables, Since we'd also ordered a vegetable tempura to share it was really a case of vege-overload. A main couse of Geang Ped ( Thai Red Curry) anf fragrant rice was much more acceptable but the Pad Thai Gung, a dish of supposedly stir fried noodles with prawns was a mish-mash of noodles, rice, too much oil and too few- (just 4)-prawns. As already mentioned the restaurant was almost fully booked so it obviously has it's fans, none of whom iI'm guessing have tasted authentc Thai Cuisine. On the positive side the staff were courteous and the atmosphere was busy and welcoming but the most important aspect of a restaurant that will lure you back time and time again is great food, and sadly, here, there was none,

It had been a while since I was at the Chilli Banana, and I knew they were busy opening other outlets, so I was just a little nervous when we arrived.
I shouldn't have worried. Despite the presence of a huge party the service was as good as usual and the food exquisite. Not the cheapest around, but delightful, inventive food and staff more than worth the tip

The Sunday buffet experience here is a very enjoyable one. It's a noisy, bustling, informal family occasion and you had better book ahead. Starters are all the classic Thai dishes, satays, fishcakes, spring rolls, soup, crackers and zingy dips. There were several main courses included prawns, beef and pork all with different sauces and vegetables plus noodles and rice. The staff concentrate on keeping the supplies renewed, so as you keep coming back for more it's always fresh and hot. The food quality seemed to me to be as good as the pricier evening meals, but of course there is less choice and no personal service or fancy presentation. In all the bustle, I was served a bottle of wine in an ice bucket, and the waitress rushed off without opening it and had to be chased. You can have a blow-out for your fixed price and you are not pushed to spend on drink if don't want to, so long live the Chilli Banana's popular Sunday buffet.

This place is always busy when I go. But the staff never seem flustered and are always happy.
Personally I think the food is great and with a more varied menu than most Thai restaurants. Avg bill for me and 'er indoors about £45. Not normally a hunger problem.
Chilli Banana
I am a big lover of Thai food so tried the chilly b out, the food was good nothing special and the portions somewhat small but the atmosphere is good and the service spot on will definitely go back to try again
Chilli Banana
I eat here fairly regularly, and highly recommend the Sunday buffet. The dishes are interesting and very tasty. Small dishes? Maybe, but I've never come away feeling hungry! It definitely isn't McDonald's!
Chilli Banana
The food is excellent and the service is very good.
The restaurant gets a little noisy for a quiet dinner. I agree that the portions are a little small. Order an extra meal between 3 and this should be sufficient.

Excellent Thai cuisine served by friendly and helpful staff. Tight portion controls means that some might find it a bit pricey for what you get.
