We visit the China House weekly, it is such a cosy pub where we catch up with friends or just chill out. The food has always been good, particularly the Duck Salad and are standard pub prices. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful but as already said it is the wonderful building and location that are the real reason we go. You can sit out on the balcony overlooking the yachts or inside on colder evenings where you can cosy up in a corner or in a big chair by the fire. A lovely pub to go with friends when you are looking for a relaxing drink.

I love the China House, we visit on a weekly basis! The food is always good-especially so for lunch, staff are hit and miss there are some very friendly members and some that are not so friendly but its the location and the lovely cosy feel of the place that is the real winner. Summer days and evenings are beautiful overlooking the boats and the barbican and on winter nights grab a seat next to one of the cosy fires! Lush

We have been to the China House several times, and generally enjoyed the down-to-earth kitchen and pub-like interior. Good pub-like atmosphere with lots of nooks and crannies for small and larger parties. Good view over the harbour in summer.

We have been to The China House 3 or 4 times and have never been disappointed. I love the atmosphere, as it is a really old building, with lots of cosy corners and uneven floors etc. It is particularly wonderful at Christmas, with a huge floor to ceiling tree. The menu is above average pub fare, very well - priced and always served promptly. There is quite a good wine list and the staff are happy to recommend a bottle. I haven't sampled the Christmas menu, but it reads very well and again is competitively priced. We live in St Austell, but would definitely be regulars if we lived nearer. Richard & Helen Boyle
