Christies Bistro at the University of Manchester is one of the city’s hidden gems. The Christie Library was built in 1890 and for a century served as the university’s main science library until it was converted into a bistro. It’s a venue that’s steeped in history and character with visitors surrounded by original books and documents as well as portraits of previous Vice-Chancellors. The more formal 36-cover a la carte restaurant is a great spot for a business lunch or to entertain whilst in the informal Lounge you can relax and enjoy light bites, artisan coffees, afternoon tea or just a drink. Christies Bistro is open from 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday serving breakfast/brunch (to 11.30am), lunch (12pm-3pm) and afternoon tea (2pm-4pm). Christies is also available for private hire evenings and weekends for parties, weddings and receptions.
