Have eaten at the Chung Ku on several occasions, last time there was with my in-laws, family anniversary 20 adults and children. Had a fantastic banquet, staff were very friendly and service was excellent.

The place was great, food was great but they spoiled it all at the very end by trying it on with the bill, I was with my girl who i have been with for 2 years but they maybe thought It was our 1st or 2nd date and I wouldn't say anything but they where barking up the wrong tree, I was gutted because we knew they did it on purpose and so did they & now we will never go back there again, such a shame and it spoiled our experience in Chung Ku and let them down in my opinion .

Came here for our 25th Wedding Anniversary, very friendly staff, the room was set out nice, clean, the menu so much choice took me almost 10 mins to decide what to have. They had anniversary balloons on our table and when we finished our main meals they played congratulations and came over with ice cream with a candle in, then took our photo and presented it in a anniversary card. We sat by the window looking across the mersey at all the twinkling lights, would be even better if it was when the sun is just going down. I will be going here again .

OVERATED. NO PRIVACY FOR COUPLES, TOO OPEN AND CRAMMED ESPECIALLY IN THE CENTRAL SEATING ARREARS. FULL OF WANNABE GANGSTERS, DEALERS AND THEIR DITSY DUMB GIRLFRIENDS. MANAGEMENT ARE UNATTENTIVE AND MISERABLE. PRICE AND FOOD OVERATED.

We have been to the Chung Ku three times over a two year period
and each time we have been disappointed.
The service we have received is exemplary and cannot be faulted.
But the food Chung Ku serves is simply overrated, the last occasion we were served cold boiled rice, the meals were either too salty or too sweet and some of our soups were lukewarm.
The Chung Ku is inconsistent at best and at times very poor.
Marks for service - 10/10
Marks for quality of food served - 5/10

The food simply does not compare with the service we received.
The service was excellent but the food was extremely disappointing.
The boiled rice was cold, roasted meats hard and chewy, sweetcorn soup lukewarm and the rest of our meals were either too salty or too sweet. The Chung Ku is vastly overrated and there will be no more visits from our party of ten.
We wanted to complain but decided not to cause a scene.
It may have been an off day for their chefs but we have dine in the Chung Ku three times and the food has been mediocre at best and for our last visit was downright appalling.

The surroundings of the Chung Ku are pleasing to the eye, with the views to the sea front as spectacular as you will see. The food and service is very good although I felt the choice of dishes on the menu a little limited and catered for the western palate instead of being authentic chinese food. Better choices are available at the Mei Mei or Tai Pan, although the food here is just as good.

Awesome food with a better than usual menu. Dim Sum was great with very impressive portions and with a good variety to suit all. We had a variety of mains with a hot plate and small wok that cooked at the table. Everything tasted and seemed freshly cooked and service was very good. We had come down from Manchester to eat there and I have to say its better than anything I have been to in Manchester. Amazing building with a great view just adds to the experience...Well recommended!!!

The interior design of Chung Ku is certainly eye pleasing, with its ship's bow its main focal point. The Chung Ku is most certainly an attractive restaurant to visit and has a unique interior design to enjoy whilst dining. The restaurant was full and the atmosphere was lively with many birthday groups in celebration. Space is at a premium and we were seated at a close proximity to fellow diners, not an ideal seating plan for diners who may want to enjoy a quiet evening meal. The food in most parts was good but fell short of being excellent. The char sui in our fried dishes differed in quality to my main meat dish which I have to say was very tasty and tasted as if was freshly roasted on our date of dining. My boyfriend was slightly disappointed after hearing rave reviews from friends and has vowed to only dine at our usual haunts which are the Shanghai Palace and the Tai Pan in the future. The most pleasing aspect from our visit was the at tentative service from the waitresses. Undoubtedly, the Chung Ku provides the ideal service for its customers, we were never rushed, treated with respect and genuine warmth from the staff. If there was ever a North West league table for service alone then Chung Ku would be its leader by a long stretch. Food wise I am willing to give the Chung Ku another opportunity to live up to its reputation for its excellence in Chinese cuisine. So prove my boyfriend wrong and deliver the food I know Chung Ku is capable of!
