Have driven past here many times but never stayed so an autumn weekend here was well overdue. This hotel – or really restaurant with rooms – is in the midst of the Whinlatter Forest between Keswick and Buttermere. It has a well-deserved Michelin star but isn’t in the least stuffy. You can choose between the inclusive ‘standard’ menu which changes every night or the tasting menu for a supplement. Beautifully presented food and top quality. Great walking too in this less-visited part of the Lakes. Recommended.

Brought my parents here, who were visiting from Canada and we all had a wonderful evening. A delicious meal, well presented with a wonderful combination of flavours and excellent service. Thank you all.

Well it was 3rd time lucky having tried to book twice before while in on visits to Keswick........and now I know why.
The food was outstanding...locally sourced, fresh and beautifully presented with great attention to detail. All this is underpinned by the attentive and friendly service provided by staff from the moment you enquire about a booking until you reluctantly leave this hidden gem.

This beautiful gem, WOW!!! The food is exceptional and presented beautifully. The Chef's passion is obvious in the menu which has something for everyone!! They serve locally sourced produce cooked to perfection. As we arrived the welcome we received was so warm and genuine. At the time of our visit the Chef has'nt got a Michelin rating but I have no doubt he will in time be recognised for his love and passion for good quality food cooked to perfection and presented beautifully!!

An extremely friendly and well run restaurant. The food was both inventive and delicious, beautifully presented and certainly fresh. A really wide choice of flavours on offer with particular attention to 'foraging' finds. The staff were informative and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. Well priced too, a three course meal at £30.00 was bursting with flavour, variety and colour. Our family enjoyed an extremely warm welcome back on our 2nd visit, much the same as our 1st. Can't wait to go and be spoiled again.
