Been to the Cowshed a few times and always have a lovely time. Our waitress we had last week (Rebecca or Rachel) was very sweet and really made the effort to make us feel special. Would always recommend to a friend.

I have dined at Cowshed about 5 or 6 times over the last few years and have to say the food and service is excellent, I last went on my birthday on the 2nd July with a party of 10 and it was excellent, the food and atmosphere were super and the staff could not be more helpful. I would book in advance as the place is always busy, as for the pricing it is not somewhere I would dine all the time as its more expensive than some places but for the special occasion its spot on and clearly reflected in the quality of the food. Well done Cowshed we will be back :)

Love this place. Really good decor and atmosphere and absolutely brilliant food and service! Usually have steak when I go - and I love the peppercorn and dijonaise sauces! I really, really like the salads in the starters as they're always a bit different but absolutely delicious! I think the prices reflect what you get - I'm always full to the brim when I leave here!

My wife and I dined here on 18 January and the experience was as close to perfect as you could probably get. Many of the reviews on here refer to it being pricey, but you get what you pay for in life.
I had the 10oz ribeye steak, my wife chose Barbary duck. Whilst people refer to a 'juicy steak' so often it's become a bit of a cliché, this one actually was! It was a fine example of how a steak ought to be cooked, and the aromas it produced had me salivating before the waiter got the plate to my table. The massively chunky chips were equally good; being both crisp on the outside with an almost candy floss like interior. We pushed the boat out with one of the fine wines and, although we were brought the cheaper version of the Rioja, our waiter had realised this and replaced it before we had chance to tell him.
The desserts were just as sumptuous and it was refreshing not to have an overwhelming menu to choose from, though we still took some time to make up our minds.
In conclusion: very polite and friendly staff, significantly higher that average food quality went to make up an excellent dining experience. Only (minor) criticism is the lighting which was slightly too low.
KEEP DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING, COWSHED!

We had our office xmas meal at the Cow Shed, although it was a little pricey the food, atmosphere and service was excellent. Its a shame there are only a handful of good restaurants in Wakefield.

We have been to the cowshed loads of times and it really is lovely, the only thing is its a bit pricey so if you are looking for a special time then I would say go but if you want a cheaper night out then go somewhere else. I would say it is my fave restaurant in this area for sure!
FIN
One of the best restaurants to go to in Wakefield City centre, however it is a little pricey for what you get in the end. Lack of competition from other restaurants allows the prices of this one to stay high. It would be good to see more top class quality eating establishments in the city centre.
wakey
The best city restaurant grill in wakefield, though some way to go on the service to be challenging for been the best overall, the food menu is good, presented and tastes great, atmosphere is good but this place is another of those small restaurants aprox 40 covers which means the service should be easy and a lot better.

The food was excellent, we arrived a bit early so the place was a bit empty at 7:30pm. The place started livening up about 8ish.
The Steaks are to die for, bit expensive in my opinion but they are worth their money. Service is excellent, waitresses are friendly and see to your every need.
