Regarding the restaurant Da Piero in Irby, Wirral, I went to go there yesterday (Monday) but it was closed. So i made the booking for tonight but after reading the veggie and vegan menus i had a few questions. They have parmesan on the veggie menu so i asked if it was a vegetarian parmesan to which they told me it was no it was not vegetarian. So, i made the suggestion that why don’t they label it so that it says its not veggie but that didn’t go down too well as she said she has customers who are vegetarians who eat it. She also said she has vegetarian customers who eat fish. I then questioned if the wine in the vegan dishes was actually vegan and she said they cannot guarantee it as their wine suppliers in Italy will not put it in writing. What a joke! They have a veggie and vegan menu with items in it that may not be veggie or vegan!!!She was quite rude to me at first asking me “Do you want your booking or not?” and also saying to me “Well, you won’t be drinking the wine tonight either as we cannot guarantee it is vegan”. I was extremely disappointed in their attitude towards me before i have even stepped in the place and also to their relaxed attitude towards the veggie and vegan menu and lack of detail and information on the menu. I praised her for offering a vegan and veggie menu but what is the point of going if it may not really be veggie or vegan!!!!After all that, I cancelled my booking!!!!!

This is the best restaurant in Wirral. It is small but the owners are selecting ingredients of the highest standard, cooking them simply and serving them with a pride and care that is rare in most other establishments. There is a very good wine list of Italian wines which are great value

We`ve been regulars at Da Pieros for about 2 years since moving to Irby. It`s our all time favourite and that includes Italy!
The restaurant is run and owned by husband and wife team Dawn and Piero. Piero is the only chef and Dawn runs front of house with a lovely welcoming unobtrusive style. At the end of the night Piero comes down from the kitchen to say hello. A great chance to pick up some tips too. Our 4 year old Grandson nearly always accompanies us and is now a bit of a celebrity with Dawn and her staff. He loves it of course.
The food is the best flavoured Italian food we`ve ever tasted. It is consistently good too. You will never have an ordinary plate of food at Da Pieros because Piero is so precise in his cooking. Everyone we have taken to Da Pieros are now regulars which says it all really. Try it, I guarantee you won`t be disappointed.

A perfect, genuine, Italian restaurant. All food is superbly fresh and cooked to order by Piero. This is REAL Italian food as they eat it, rather than an ersatz freezer-to-microwave English approximation. Many ingredients are sourced from Italy, and the wine list is a refreshing change from the norm. In all, a lovely atmosphere in which to eat a lovely meal. Highly recommended.

I would recommend "Da Piero" to anybody. The best "Bucatini all'amatriciana" ever! Including the (many!) I had in Italy. The quality of the food is superb! Piero imports everything directly from Italy, even the sea salt! This type of quality and attention to details is unprecedented in North West's Italian Restaurants.

Da Piero is a little gem of a restaurant, in my view one of the best in Wirral/Merseyside/Chester region. We've eaten there several times now. It's an authentic Sicilian restaurant which prides itself on sourcing high quality products both from this country and Sicily. The pasta, fish (the fish wrap is particularly delicious!) and meat dishes are of a consistently high quality - quite unusual for a restaurant in my experience. I recently discovered the reason - Piero, the chef, does all of the cooking himself. You will be warmly welcomed and looked after by Dawn, Piero's wife. I can't recommend Da Piero enough -we're lucky to have such a great local restaurant.
