I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. When we first arrived we were stood in the entrance for at least 20 minutes without a greeting. We were then taken to our table and left for another 20 minutes without a drink - at which point I went to the bar and bought a round. The menu is boring - all typical run of the mill 'Italian' food with no real creativity. I had a steak, and this was the highlight as it was cooked beautifully, however it was drowned in a peppercorn sauce that was overpowering and had a skin on it like it had been sat under the kitchen lights for too long (I also wondered if it came out of a packet?). The steak was served with a dish of vegetables, but because we were unaware of this we also ordered potatoes. It was far too much and therefore a huge waste. The service was appalling - no enquiry was made into whether we had enjoyed our meals, and the lady that took our order (who I presume is the owner) was smug to the point of being rude. It took forever to get another drink, and even then I asked a waiter who then had to go and get a waitress. The waitresses seemed to have very little to do yet we could never get hold of one! I really wanted to complain at the end, but as with the rest of the meal there was nobody about to speak to and so we got fed up of waiting and left our money on the table. It was such a disappointment.
Old Friends
Perhaps slightly more expensive than other close by but this is balanced out by the quality of the food, the quantity and the ambience. Have been using this restaurant for close on 20years plus and the quality has improved with time. Tony, his wife and his staff do their utmost to ensure that the food. atmosphere is typically Italian.
Da Tonini
A very good traditional family Italian restaurant. Excellent for a special occasion. If you have been several times and you want to try something different try something off the specials board.
webuga
This is a good, solid Italian. The seafood pasta is especially nice.
Da Tonini
This long established Italian restaurant is on a main road but there is usually parking space either on the frontage or in the nearby side streets. The premises have recently been enlarged and refurbished and are excellent. The food is good as is the service but I have always found it to be rather on the expensive side. Certainly worth a visit with a good atmosphere.
